I had a rather bizarre encounter with a "friend" who seemed to be bragging about being a reddit/community admin, and linked me to this guide here. Immediately alarm bells went off, with all the fabricated information. I confronted him about this, and he immediately proceeded to unfriend me. Wasn't really sure where to "report" this, as afaik there's been no victims yet... I do hope I put this in the right location.

Talked to the friend Camo and I had in common. It appears he was hacked by someone.

SteamREP General is not a place to report things like this. To make reports go https://forums.steamrep.com/forums/report/ but I wouldn't waste your time if you don't have direct contact or physical evidence of intent to scam you. Use the drop-down menu and report and move on, it's your best bet.

This very group of users did the old Self-Lock Bot tactic which is old.

I was going to report it using the report tool but the nature of it didn't really let me fit it into the required information boxes.

    ...also, self-lock bot? What's that? e-e

It's where some A-Hole scammer with an account named "Self Lock Bot" sends you a message that looks official (but is fake) and scares you into thinking that your account was used in scam/stealing steam accounts or that you have "illegal duplicated items". And that you have to contact [insert scammer account here] to give them money or your account details or something of value or else your account will be locked/banned.

With most scammers who use scare tactics, you can just remove them and they'll go away, they have no power to actually do anything and they most likely aren't going to waste their time on the same person.
