  3. ... OMG I have the hat! I scammed a scammer!

You can scam the freaking leader of Team Vedetia but as long as you scammed, you should be marked

Quite an old blog post, but still unacceptable nonetheless. I'll leave this one for investigation.

Sorry for the spam. But can't edit after 2 minutes.

Confirmation that it's this ZakMcRofl since the Blog has no link toward his profile.

Google Translator: He's the Batman. Respect. Not many know that they are so clever to make. And even fewer of them are only half as honest. (The first comment.)

Yes, that is me, I have no intention of hiding it (there is only one ZakMcRofl on Steam). May I give my two cents please.

The blog post does not include all conversation with the scammer, I will make it available to a trusted admin for review if necessary. The return of the hat was in agreement with the scammer, if you want I can get him to post here.
On the contrary, I pursuaded him that scamming is a dick thing to do and to return all his "loot" to his victims.

Also if I may add, this was well before steamrep took a public stance against returning hats from scammers so to be honest it would be a weird move to retroactively mark me for something that happened long ago, did never happen again after that and was in consent with the "victim".

If you consider marking me for that, please get in touch with me first for the full story and talk to the "victim" as well.

Update: I see the issue steamrep has with my blog post, it encourages vigilantes which is a bad thing.
Also I phrased it very wrong before and edited that part of the blog, since I actually came to an agreement with the scammer after he had given me the hat.

I also talked to Jailbait and Acesgamer and I hope we can resolve this.

The key differences in comparison to dragonfly's case are, in my humble opinion
    1) It happened before that case and I honestly didn't know about steamrep's official stance
    2) I did not offer any money in return for the hat
    3) I persuaded the scammer to return his "loot" and he was remorseful, he even gave some extra items to hunter (the victim). Note that he never complained to steamrep about me, simple because he does not see me as a scammer.
    4) I get that vigilantes are a big problem in the long term. I will still use any opportunity to talk scammers out of their business, sometimes even grabbing their IP can be convincing enough. But I will cooperate with steamrep if there is anything I should add to the blog post to discourage vigilantes, I have already added a disclaimer.

Because he's the hero Steam deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. (Lt. James Gordon)
