What happened? Description:

This user added me earlier this evening, offering to trade me. He then tried to scam me out of one or more Unusual items for Team Fortress 2. He wanted me to trade my item(s) to a trusted friend, then would proceed to change his username to mine so that they could impersonate me. Then would then ask my friend to trade them the items.

It's a classic scamming technique, and when I called him out on it, he proceeded to block me. What I don't understand is why he, and others like him have many comments on their profile along the lines of "trustworthy user, +rep".

Regardless, I would hope there's another report made about him, so that there's less of a chance he can take advantage of players in the future. Any and all help is appreciated!

Jack The White: You were selling an unusual right?
rileydelete: Just played a matchmaking round with a hacker that ruined the experience for both teams. I recorded him and just uploaded the footage.
rileydelete: And yes, I am still trading my unusual Ancient Eldritch Hellmet.
Jack The White: How much does it cost in keys?
rileydelete: Backpack.tf price is 55-60 keys. Because this hat cannot be unboxed anymore, it's increasing, but there's no real set value.
Jack The White: How about the other unusuals? I am currently bulk buying. Maybe I would consider overpaying if its affordable
rileydelete: Well, it depends what you have.
rileydelete: The reason I'm trading it is because I got myself a new soldier hat that's going all-class.
rileydelete: I'm open to anything really. There's no real rush.
Jack The White: I have 1348 pures. May I know the prices in keys?
rileydelete: 60 is what I'm selling it for as of now.

rileydelete: Then you change your username to mine and attempt to get them to trade you the items.
rileydelete: It's an old technique. I'm lucky enough that my friends have had experience with it and helped me avoid a similar fate.​
