What happened? Description:

Posted a comment on one of my old screenshots looking to buy my backpack for around it's value of $12,000 through paypal, cashapp, or venmo. Was excited that I got such an appropriate offer and added him, talked for a bit, asked some questions and clearly wasnt careful enough. He sent an offer, I accepted it and the second it went through he unadded me, privated his profile, and changed his steam custom URL. He also removed the comment on the screenshot before I could take a picture of that specifically for proof but I did take screenshots of the conversation and then the whole offer which you can see went through from my inventory. Already reported him to steam, also submitted a report to bp.tf so hopefully they'll go through with that, figured I should do it here too. Just dont want anyone else to get scammed by him and I feel incredibly stupid. I did block out my email account in the paypal screenshots but I can show it if needed.​

Im fine with the offer, was mostly just curious how you usually go about doing these since most of the trading Ive done has been either with items, or off like marketplace, or the steam market

Got it, so when it comes to cash trades it usually works based on rep and such. Not sure if you went over me before adding but I have rep, I’m level 152, been on Steam for 16 years, etc. I can also provide screenshots of my PayPal balance for proof of funds/trade history if needed.

Yeah I looked into you some saw the bit of trust ratings on http://bp.tf and also saw you reporting a scammer on steamrep (an incredibly dumb one), the screenshots of the paypal stuff for proof would be helpful for sure as well since it is a lot.

So do you use a middleman or something or how's the ordering in terms of the actual trade/payment?

So as far as I'm aware there's no such thing as "middleman" anymore, all cash trades nowadays work based on rep/cash rep really. not worth risking my account as well over a trade doesn't matter how small or large would just get me marked or banned
And all payment as F/F via PP as well.

I been doing CSGO for many many years until recent years I started doing TF2 more often since i didn't have time to keep up with the CSGO market. But TF2 on and off probably since TF2outpost days if you remember that website

Yeah, had a bunch of cash rep over at CSGO-REP but sadly they shut that down too. Also I was having a hard time keeping up with the younger people on sticker prices/skins prices and such

Yeah, a lot of money laundering going on in CSGO it seems for some reason, lots of big companies come in and launder money via crypto and disappear

But good to see you seem legitimate, definitely one of my bigger hangups leading to hesitance on finally selling my tf2 stuff has been how backpack buyouts work and the fear of a chargeback or something like that
