he's been on my friends list for a while and I knew him pretty well
today i let him borrow a searing pillar since i have plenty of hats to wear already
he then deletes me, changes his name to rob, and privates his profile

Do you have any proof of saying that he could borrow said hat?
I am NOT saying that what you said isn't the truth, but it could be you gave it to him as some gift, or spycrab winnings, hence the request to acquire poof that he was borrowing it and not getting it 100%.

he borrowed my smoking pot, also removed me. I've let him hold much more valuable hats before without problem. I'm personally giving him 24 hours, then I'm headed to his jump/game servers to get him banned there.

he told me he won the tower crabbing, he was really committed to that story.

It looks like another formerly trustworthy person has gone rogue. Marking him now- thanks for the report. Also, GZ, pop me your inventory history so I can add it to offenses.

recovered the stolen pot through a stroke of luck, although it was still actually stolen from me.
