    Scam Report

Report Type: DO NOT SUBMIT TO STEAMREP - CD-Key, game code, Steam wallet code, or other code scamming
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198028351169

    Victim profile: 76561198012128513

    What happened? Description:
I understand that SteamRep does not like to process CD Key scam reports, however I still want to make my case heard because I do think I have a fair amount of evidence, and at the least if in the future some others are also scammed by the same individual then perhaps we can finally accept that this is indeed a scammer. Also, I believe with some help I can gather more evidence.

Accused wrote multiple posts on PUBG trade forums in early July seeking to trade CSGO skins for PUBG item codes (pictured). This included a reply to one of my posts, seeking to trade a DMM shirt from PUBG (pictured). This particular item is valued around $150-200. I added him, and noticed that all of his items were not tradable, which made me somewhat suspicious, but he also had a relatively high profile level, age, and play time on games which made him seem like a genuine account. He also claimed on his profile to be a Global Elite on CSGO, which I verified through CSGO stat websites. I didn't think that a scammer would put so much time investment into scamming for a few hundred dollars of items. Regarding the untradeable items, he told me that his knife would become tradeable in a day, which turned out to be true.

However, after I made sure he was ready to trade and sent him the game code, he claimed that it was already activated, which is impossible since I bought it directly from the site (proof attached). I checked the code in the game and indeed it said it was already activated, but it must have been done by him. I have no alternate accounts with PUBG, and the item is not on my main account. I understand that this is not much to go by, however it is what comes next that is very interesting. Basically, if you read the chat transcript, there are a lot of red flags in the behavior of this guy after I give him the code. Immediately, he says that he wants to trade with someone else that he added. I also noticed that he also never launches PUBG, so he did not try to activate it, at least on this particular account. When confronted about it, he took several minutes to come up with an explanation (you'd think he would know what account he is activating on). The account that he claims to have tried to activate the code on (https://steamcommunity.com/id/JhonBoi11212) was only friended by him right around the time of the trade (I took a screenshot of various parts of his profile a few hours beforehand because I thought he was somewhat suspicious). This account also does not appear to have significant activity on PUBG, with very few items. He also pretends not to know how to do basic things, like activating game code on PUBG or finding URL of Steam profiles. You would imagine someone on Steam for 7 years, 4000 hours on CSGO, and actively trying to trade for item codes would know how to add these codes into his account and find the profile URLs of people he is trading with. Additionally, he cancelled the trade offer I sent him for the knife almost immediately and without any mention in the chat after I sent him the code, even though from the chat he acts like he is unsure of why the code is not working. He did not remove me from friend list (at least not yet). It would be too obvious in that case.

Long story short, he must have used another account to activate it after I sent him the code. He is sensible enough to not have this account on his friends list, but he is part of some very fishy looking groups, which may or may not contain some of his alt accounts. If there were some way to look into them perhaps we can identify the specific account that has the item activated and undeniably prove that in fact he used the code, though I believe I have quite substantial evidence regardless. I am uncertain if there is a good way to find a user's alternate accounts, perhaps from trade history, IP, groups, etc? Which is why I need some suggestions and help regarding this matter. If this is not possible, then it is fine as well; I don't want to spend too much time dwelling on this matter anyhow, seeing as when I got the code it was only for some $25, and evidently he did not resell it but activated it on an account, which means that he will make no profit from this (item is untradeable, unmarketable). Again, at the very least he will hopefully never be able to scam with this specific account again, since if he does there will be two sets of evidence if someone else is scammed by the same conman, and he will probably get this high level account banned on Steam and SteamRep. Thanks for reading, and any help is appreciated :)

    Several updates:
    1) He changed name on Steam
    2) M9 Bayonet Knife traded away from inventory only a few hours later; I agreed to contact DMM for him, and he did not notify me that the trade is off
    3) Another minor detail: his profile says he is American, but from his writing, log in activity, and the fact that he mentioned in the chat log that he had "a trader from his country" this seems dubious.

At the moment, he has not removed me on Steam yet.

Ah, the typical non-defense, questioning the validity of the code but not dealing with any of the evidence I have against you. Which, by the way, we have obtained tons of info and dirt on you over the last few days that I can release at any moment I want. I also find it very sad you have to spend hours to scam for $100-200, ROFL, you must be broke as hell. Also, nice purchased 7 year Steam account that doesn't have any content or activity older than 9 months. Too bad it will be banned and totally useless soon, along with your other accounts. Have fun with the DMM shirt, maybe it will make being broke more entertaining somehow. Anyway, not gonna waste any more of my time on a barely literate, bottom feeding scammer.
