    Scam Report

Report Type: [Rep Fraud] Impersonation with intent to defraud
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198043003969

    Victim profile: 76561198159489677

    What happened? Description:
I was just messing around with an OP Skins scammer. The usual. The Nervous Pyro. The guy was obviously impersonating another user. Same name. Private inventory. I ask only for 10 keys for my 32.5 key Le Party Phantom. I had no intent of selling this hat in the beginning to this guy at this price. I knew he was a scammer. He continued on with his OP Skins scam script. Saying that he wants to "check my items, because there are unstable items that need to be looked out for"
    The usual.

Then, he decides to change his mind, and is willing to pay the ten keys. So he sends me an offer claiming to be from his "main account". The main account is the one this report is against. I've never been friends with this guy before.

I was shocked that a scammer sent me an offer from his main account, so I decide to add the guy who sent me the trade offer, and talked with him a little bit. He kept saying that The Nervous Pyro was just trying to use him as a cover up, and said that I had no real proof against him, besides him "lowballing" me. It's not lowballing if the seller gives the price.

The Nervous Pyro is on my friend list for trading. Outside of that I have nothing to do with him. So he msg me saying that his friend is selling a unusual and sent me the trade link. I offered 17 keys and to my surprise he asked me to make it a 10-7 key split between the users and so i did. This seemed weird and i questioned him about it. He said it was ok and added tha the deal between them didnt go threw. After that the victim added me and said that i was "The Nervous Pyro" main account for some reason. We spent a lot of time arguing about this.

It became clear to my that the fake "The Nervous Pyro" tried to set up me for some reason. I dont know why because even if I was banned he would be banned too.

Anyways i think its pretty clear that im not "The Nervous Pyro" but what do you the admins think? Only thing frong i have done here is sent a lowball offer to item with 30% of its price in pure. And as far as i know that isnt bannable (at least not yet). I sent the victim the scrteenshots of our coversation (me + The Nervous Pyro) but of course he said I was just faking it with "my two accounts". I'll upload the screenshots here too (not sure if he did already).

For now I will start with this but if it still unclear that im a seperate person I'll gladly find more proof.

Then again. Super easy to send messages between two devices with two different accounts.

So basically the victim has declared me as the main of the scammer just because he (the scammer) said so.

If you take a better look at the Steam messages, and the description of the report, I have a pretty good reason to believe that you tried to scam me by using that account. So far, you have given me no solid evidence to prove that this account cannot possibly belong to you.

I mean... The evidence I have provided is greatly in my favor, and you're rebuttal has more holes in it than swiss cheese... So there's a lot more against you than for you, usually implying that you're guilty. That's how the United States court system works, right? I have enough to prove you're guilty, you don't have enough to prove that you're innocent. Sounds fair, no?

And a trade offer coming directly from you literally a split second after you change your mind, even though I have never discussed the price with you. The scammer freaking out after I threatened to report your main account. That's certainly a lot more than a chat log that could have easily been between you, and two devices, without any time stamps to prove when this conversation actually happened.

But the thing is. You need proof. You have none. Good luck with this. Everything you have is speculation and you have no proof at all. Btw check my logs

I don't know about me having no proof. Many scammers have an alternate account that they can transfer funds, and other items to if they desire. Like the item verification scam. People taking control of multiple accounts at once. There is no good reason for you to have sent me that trade offer before checking with me first. Any reasonable trader would do so. I have never met a scammer who has claimed to have a main account other than the one they are impersonating. And trust me, I have talked to a lot of scammers. Never have I met one who would send me a trade offer through their actual profile as soon as he says that he changed his mind, and wishes to actually pay keys for my hat. This behavior is just weird, and is something I have never seen before. I've got chat logs with both you, and the bot you used. It is so easy to spam a few messages back and forth on multiple systems.

I've also seen people with even less proof get other people banned on Steam REP

It's logic that wins arguments. And with what I have provided, I have reason to believe that this is also your account. It's not a far fetched conclusion.

I'm siding with the accused here - this report has no viable evidence that the accused tried to scam anyone let alone the victim.
The use of the trade offer URL from another user to show they have items, reputable items or is a high volume trader is very common and would appear this was the case.
This would cause a user to report the wrong person that wasn't involved - exactly what is happening here.
Very common tactic by any impersonator.
    Rejecting report
