    Scam Report

Report Type: [Gambling] Gambling fraud or spycrab runner
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198082707155

    Victim profile: 76561197987815569

    What happened? Description:
The accused added me and proposed to fix random draws in a CS:GO gambling site.
He then proceeded to demonstrate he actually controls the outcome of the site's draws ( http://landskins.net ).
His proposed deal was to pay me with the proceeds of fixing the outcome of the draw, which I would be made to win, if I would advertise the site on my nickname on Steam.

The nature of this con is that the scammer utilizes a fake gambling site to deceive the victim into believing that the scammer is an admin of a real gambling site and willing to fix draws in the victims favor. The deceived victim proceeds to deposit skins into the fake site, via trade offer to their bot, in order to place a bet—and that's when the victim parts with his money.

Additionally, considering that doing a search for the accused's SteamID64 on SteamRep forums ( http://forums.steamrep.com/search/6144536/?q=76561198082707155&o=date ) yields as a result this report thread: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/...counter-strike-global-offensive-items.133990/ , and considering that in this report, the accused (another user: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198158365421 ) is being reported by exact the same scam, and is on record with a profile using a Steam profile artwork showcase identical to the one the accused in my report is currently using (in the mentioned report, it is the attached file evidence3.png, with an image of his profile: http://forums.steamrep.com/attachments/evidence3-png.430764/ — on my report, see the attached images), the two accounts ( http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198082707155 and http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198158365421 ) might be related or controlled by the same person. Staff might want to look into that.

I can see you chatting with someone with the same name and profile image - but not this exact person/SteamID.
Need to verify that - I've tried on my end but I can't. Need to show you adding this specific user or something verifying that.

I never added this user—he added me.
The full dialog is recorded and posted in the original post.
It can also be noted (on the fourth attachment, showing his profile) that I added a custom nickname to him—which is not possible unless the person is in your friends list.
The reason why he is not in my friends list now, is because he deleted mid-conversation, as can be seen in the attached chat screenshots.

Activity will still maybe showing you becoming friends...or you will need to re-add the user and open up the chat box again showing the last few lines of chat - hover mouse pointer over users name or profile image.
There is nothing right now that links you to this user - without either of those or a way to verify connection we can't process report.

What do you mean? Are you sure you are understanding my report?

    Let me recap:

    1 - I was added by http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198082707155 ;
    2 - http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198082707155 sent me messages which I recorded in the attached screenshots;
3 - I clicked on his avatar in the chat window, copied his SteamID64 URL from the Steam client, searched him on SteamRep, and filed a report.

What else am I supposed to do?

I understand the report just fine - prove you were in contact with the user. The only thing you've prove thus far is you chatted with someone using the same name/profile image which can be duplicated.
Screenshot your activity please - upload.

Do you mean my Steam activity feed? ( http://steamcommunity.com/id/fsmoura/home/ )

I am taking a look at it, but do you understand that my activity does not feature ANY of the people who added me? It has only notes about my friends and other users becoming friends.

    > There is nothing right now that links you to this user[.]

There is nothing where? Doesn't the screenshot evidence I posted in my initial post count? With the full dialog and his profile, obtained according to SteamRep guidelines?
How else can I prove I interacted with him?

    --

Might you perhaps, when you say "I can't verify on my end" be referring to the fact that, on the SteamRep database historical data, he might not appear in any of my profile snapshots?

Do you understand that this (SteamRep historical data) only gets updated when someone visits a SteamRep profile page?

The accused added me, we proceeded to chat, immediately, and he removed me at the end of the conversation—I did not visit my own SteamRep page (or his, for that matter) before, or during our chat. I only did so when composing the report, afterwards.

If so—if that is indeed the case—doesn't that necessarily implicate that scammers who add their victims and quickly remove them before the victims visit their own SteamRep profile page (or the accused's) will get a free pass to scam? (Seeing that they will never figure in the victims' SteamRep profile historical data and therefore the victims' reports will all be invalidated.)

Wouldn't that be a counterproductive policy, considering most victims are newbies who are not aware of their SteamRep's existence until *after* they get scammed?

Or perhaps is there some other mechanism at play here I am not aware of?

Excuse me if I missed some important detail. If there is any way I can further help, by providing more evidence or something else, please, just direct me to it—I'd be glad to help.

Ok - I need proof that this is the correct user YOU were dealing with doing this act - you've not provided it. I'm fully aware of how SR works - I've done everything I can on my end or what I can do in order to verify this.
The next step is yours - the only thing left I can suggest is to re-add them so it shows the last few lines of message -at that point hover your mouse pointer over the users name so it shows up the popup of their steamID.
