    Scam Report

Report Type: [Item Fraud] Quick-switch trade scam or attempt
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198084982689

    Victim profile: 76561198044083409

    What happened? Description:
I was making a very important unusual trade with this guy who wanted me to prove that my hat was not duped. When I told him about sites like backpack.tf and tf2items.com he said he wanted to make sure it wasn't duped. That is where I should have listened to my instincts and bail. He proposed that I trade the hat and some other items with my friend. What he did was that he used some other account to change his picture (and probably name) to one of us while trading with the other to fool us and trade him the items. Luckily my friend suffered little damage as I traded him a second time from my group in my friend's list for his precious item. I, on the other hand, suffered ~ 50keys in damage, that will hopefully be refunded by Valve. The screenshots I provided contain the important part of the chat I had with him, my inventory history and the profile of the account used in the scam.

    Provide Evidence:
I made 2 screenshots so you can see the scam account's profile more clearly and to capture the other half of the chat. View attachment 147280 View attachment 147281

I would like to state the following to clarify the situation:
The impersonator account I linked below is the "wew" account with my picture in the screenshots I linked in my report.
It is also the account that I unknowingly gave my unusual and keys to, making me believe the same account was used to impersonate me and my friend who I linked below.
My friend suffered minimal damage: he traded to the impersonator his Glock Blue Fissure, but I managed to save his m4a1 Alloy as I traded him from my group in my friends list before he traded the impostor.
I believe the user of this account and the account named "Prof. James Moriarty", which I linked in my report, are one and the same.
