LIed and and promised to email me funds... then stole my unusual and defriended and blocked most of his friends i got in contact with.​

I wanted to follow up on this because I know the report from the person scammed is weak. I was contacted by the victim because the scammer was in my friend's list. When the victim asked me for help, I contacted the scammer. I hardly know the scammer but he was on my friends list because I planned to hold a few raffles and he wanted in.

I got the following info from the victim:

11:56 AM - Randall: Wednesday, June 18, 2014
1:16 PM - Randall: hello
1:16 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: Hi
1:17 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: I'm working with your buddy over this Unusual thing
1:17 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: so what happened
1:18 PM - Randall: well he was buying unusuals, so i thought i would trade him mine for like 4 buds but i didnt have a list price and hesaid "well ill give you my paypal and you addd 100 bucks" and gave him my email, and then he blocked and removed me
1:19 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: So you agreed to sell him your unusual bandana for 4 buds
1:19 PM - Randall: yes, but he told me since it was no lsit price it was 2
1:20 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: so he said he would pay you $100.00
1:20 PM - Randall: yes
1:20 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: so then what happened
1:21 PM - Randall: he failed to send me the credentials and defriended and blocked me
1:21 PM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: and you traded him the hat without getting money first

1:22 PM - Randall: well he gave me some of his stuff to let me know i trusted him, and then left without a traxce wiht my unusual.. he woulnt send money first

Upon contacting the scammer about this here is what he told me:

11:09 AM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: have him log into his steam account. Then right click on the tray icon on the lower left corner of his screen and choose settings. There's a button there that lets him Manage his Steamguard settings

At this point, the scammer unfriended me but I still had the chat window open so I sent him the following message:

11:37 AM - BOOM! Lt. Maverick: I'm shocked that you would do this. You leave us no alternative but to report your account to Steam and SteamRep. If you haven't returned the hat in 24 hours, you can expect a ban and you will lose not only that hat, but everything else on your account. I can guarantee you this won't go away. I've been trading for 10 years and I have plenty of contacts at SteamRep and Steam. Your account is history and so is your stuff if you don't take care of this. And don't bother trading it off to another account. Wherever it goes, it wil be found and deleted. Valve tracks everything. It's a sad day because of you doing this.
