    Scam Report

Report Type: [Other] Any other fraudulant behavior
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198109904821

    Victim profile: 76561198043480272

    What happened? Description:
I was trying to put up a trade for my 'Specialized Killstreak Claidheamh Mòr' for 15 ref using the trade.tf bot, and the ‘Auto-create a trade on tf2outpost’ checkbox was ticked. For reasons unknown to me, the bot put up my item for 1 scrap. I didn't realise until it was too late, and someone bought my weapon. It was a mistake I sought to correct, so I messaged the buyer, hoping to recover my item. However, the buyer has stopped replying to my messages since contacting him yesterday. I believe he has blocked me, as he appears online on his profile, but offline on the chatbox.

So I tried sending a friend to convince him to trade the sword. The end result was the buyer outright lying about the origin of the sword, lying about knowing anything, and unfriending my friend.

@-.Bonkaholic.- This is not a scam, because the accused did not break any terms or agreement with you. You listed your item (albeit mistakenly) at 1 scrap metal, and they bought it at the price you listed it for. They did not even seek you out to take advantage of you, but rather sent an offer for exactly the price you listed, which your script immediately accepted. Had you listed it for a different price, or discussed and agreed upon some other price before the trade, the accused would have had to honor that and not try and misrepresent or quick-switch the items, but it's not the accused's responsibility to check you are setting your prices according. By setting 1 scrap in trade.tf (mistakenly or otherwise) you agreed to trade your item for 1 scrap to whomever accepted.
Because you (or your script) listed this on Outpost, with a direct link to your trade offer, and automatically accepted the matching offer, the accused never would have needed to use trade.tf, or even know it exists. They quite plausibly only found your listing on Outpost.

Even if they had lied about where they found your trade, they were never obligated to return the item in the first place because they bought it fair and square, at the price you set. That you realized you set a better price than you intended after the fact makes this a case of buyer's remorse. Reversing the trade, in consideration of your mistake, would undoubtedly be a nice/ethical thing to do, but in cases of buyer's remorse like this, it's at the accused's discretion whether they wish to trade back, and they're within their right to refuse and block/ignore you.

Marking report as invalid and closing.
