    Scam Report

Report Type: [Money] Other cash fraud (webmoney, bitcoin, etc)
Virtual item type involved: [Steam] Steam Games

    Accused profile: 76561198119161877

    Victim profile: 76561197988834709

    What happened? Description:
He messaged me about an offer I posted on steamtrades, where he offered to gift me BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (which I can't buy myself because of region lock) in exchange for gifting him Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I checked his Steam profile where he had a link to "his" SteamTrades, which later turned out to belong to a person he was impersonating. Thinking I can trust this guy, I gifted him what he wanted, he then told me he proceeded to gift me BlazBlue... and that's the last I heard from him. He went offline, and then I found out he's gone from my friends list and I can't find his profile on Steam Community. I managed to find the person he was impersonating though, and he helped me find the scammer's real profile - it turned out then he already has 5 reports. Overall, he scammed me for about $33, and to top it off, he also convinced me to disable the G2A Shield when purchasing the gift, so that I could save some money, and now I probably can't even get my money back.

    Provide Evidence:
Here is the screenshot of our conversation. It's not all of it, but it contains the most important information, and also a partially censored link to the gift redeeming page.

Thanks for the report, he has also been using my name to scam people. I'm sorry to hear that he's STILL scamming people, even after all the complaints here and Steam...

Man, you have no idea how PISSED I am right now that he scammed me so easily. He only put ONE false link on his Steam profile description and I believed that it's real, not noticing the profile pictures were different (thought it was irrelevant), then I found another high-rep profile, which I believed to be his, on another site, and from then on I trusted him enough to even turn off the G2A Shield... Had I known to be more careful when checking earlier if the linked account is legit, I wouldn't be $33 short now...

I can't provide a screenshot of my gift history, because the gift wasn't bought on Steam, but on G2A; I can, however, post a screenshot of the finalized order of the gift along with the URL to the gift redeeming page. The URL is also visible on the sceenshot of my conversation with the accused, only I censored it, right now I'm not even sure why.

    Hello @Xaneth,

There has been some changes in the policy, and as such, your report will be archived, please read here: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/notice-changes-to-investigation-policy.47952/

    What we don't research anymore:

CD Keys/Game Code/Wallet code scam reports
    Fakerep reports
    Phishing/hijacking account reports

You can, however, report the user directly to Valve using the Report Violation feature on the other user's profile. To do so:

    1. Visit the accused's profile
    2. Click More drop-down located at the top right of the page
    3. Choose Report Violation
    4. Select the violation, then describe it and provide the evidence
    5. Click Submit Report

Click here to view an animated gif that shows how to report a violation.

    Regardless, thanks for the report!
