What happened? Description:

Accusation: Tried to fake a raffle for 200 dollars in steam funds for my account, he said he will give it via PayPal. After sending a fishy link of his "PayPal balance", asking for my steam ID, and then asking for my phone verification I can confirm he is trying to steal peoples' accounts.

How we met: TF2 trading partner. Never removed him since level 100 friend looks cool.

What Happened: Randomly sends me a message saying that I won a giveaway of his for 200 dollars. He then sends me the link, which I do click on, but shortly delete. He then confirms he's not a bot and says that i'm now entered in a raffle (changed from winning money) with 30 other people. Instead of using pen & paper and random.com, he decides to use a steam verification bot so it can confirm my identity and it will put me in an automated list and select from there. After asking a couple of questions about it, he then asks for my verification code. My PHONE verification code. I then accuse him of trying to hijack accounts and he removes me. Doesn't help that his custom URL is "200bucks". Please bring justice steam admins.

Side note: No comment wall, which is a red flag. Evidence will be taken into account for this as well.​

Please keep in mind that users posting phishing links are often phished/hijacked themselves (if not a brand new throwaway account) and their account is being used to try and hijack even more accounts. For that reason, it's best to leave these cases to Valve/Steam as we do not have the resources to handle such cases. Additionally, the victim would have to appeal their tag once they regained access to their account.

We recommend you report the accused to Valve. In order to do that, you have to:

1. Visit the accused's profile
2. Click the MORE drop-down located at the top right of the page
3. Choose REPORT VIOLATION.
4. Select the violation, then describe it and provide the evidence
5. Click SUBMIT REPORT.
