What happened? Description:

My friend AvengerofDeath2 was doing an unusual trade with someone named Pompeii. The hat was a Smoking Gentleman's Ushanka painted An Air of Debonair. Pompeii requested that the hat would be traded to a one of Avenger's friends, me, for confirmation that it wasn't duplicated. I proceeded to receive the hat from Avenger and show that I indeed have the hat in my inventory to Pompeii. I received a trade request from someone with the exact same name and profile picture as my friend. Me, being an absolute idiot, continued to give the hat to this person. I then received ANOTHER trade request, but this time from my actual friend. After realizing that I had giving away the Ushanka to a stranger, I proceeded to look at my trade history to find the profile of the man I had given away the hat to. He had changed his name to Vertigo and did not change his profile picture. On his profile, the first person I see on his friends list is Pompeii. The links from his friends list and Pompeii's chat with me, both linked to the same profile, which is Pompeii's.​

Provide Evidence:

The first thing I did was to check the scammer's profile to make sure Pompeii and the scammer were actually connected somehow. My trade history linked me to a profile that had the same Profile Picture, but the name was changed already to Vertigo. On his friends list, I saw Pompeii being the first person, which had to be a huge coincidence or that they were working together. To verify that this was the same Pompeii, I click both the link on Vertigo's page and a steam chat with Pompeii, and they led to the same profile page, confirming that this is the same Pompeii. I then verified that Vertigo had changed names and indeed, his name history had my friend's name on it.​
