What happened? Description:

I know this is something that belongs in Artists Beware. But given that this involved Steam and Steam games, I felt that it is appropriate to post about it here. After all, they could do this to someone else and scam someone out of in-game items.

I have been doing art commissions for steam games for 2 years. It allows customers who don't have a PayPal to pay for the art I make under their instruction. Up until now, I never had an issue with me.

This customer, Claudius the Pyromaniac, added me to Discord on May 21st to discuss their commission job. This person was a new customer, so I had to make sure they qualified for my services. Since I had a lot of things to do between then and the 21st plus they wanted to wait for the Summer Sale to begin, they had to wait until they could send over their payment (my policy requires the customer to pay in full before I begin the job).

After they paid the $35 price with a tip using steam games bought on another account, I got to work. On Discord, I showed them the WiPs of their order to make sure it was right (I cannot show the art because it's NSFW). Before they got the final art, I redeemed the gifted games to my account to lock them in. I never got a chance to play with them because more people were waiting to order from me.

On the 28th, I got a notice on my Steam account that those games were refunded and taken away from me. I was not asked to refund the games at all. Being upset, I tried to confront the scammer on Discord only for them to have me blocked. One of my gaming buddies tried to confront them only to get blocked. I was fortunate enough to have enough money in my Steam wallet to buy those games back, but I am frustrated over them wasting my precious time when I could be working for my honest customers.

I now only offer my friends the ability to pay with Steam games so I can still serve my honest regulars, but it did ruin my weekend.​

Provide Evidence:

The provided image collaboration is basically everything I deem important to prove this whole thing happened. This includes parts of our Discord chat, proof that I gave them the art (censored out because it's NSFW), the alternate account, their main account, the games they paid from me and the ones I rebought the day after the refund, my physical record for the order, the file's creation date, and my penmanship (sorry for the misspelling) to prove that my handwriting matches the one in the notebook.​
