What happened? Description:

I get messaged by an old friend [https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198361689021/] who I haven't talked to in a year saying he mistakenly reported me for "duped items". At first I read it as phishing on accident and then freak out since I don't want to trade banned. He sends me a link to the scammer who he put the report on and I start messaging him. He says that there is a pending ban on my account and some items need to be sent in to this "program" [https://steamcommunity.com/id/Database-9284]. I unwillingly and without thought panicked and immediately opened a trade window and put all my taunts in. The scammer then asked for all my items that were apparently "reported" and I again unwillingly traded all of them in. [I know, I was stupid enough to fall for it but since I was so anxious and fearful in the moment, I didn't have time to think.] After sending the items in I began to know something was up. The scammer began asking for username when I suddenly knew that this was a scam. Luckily I didn't tell the scammer my username. After all of this, I confronted the user who set it up and he claimed that the same scam was going on with him where he lost $110. I thought it sounded odd since he was saying that right after everything happened.

All in all I lost $25 worth of TF2 items. Not a total loss since I didn't have super expensive items in my backpack but the items still held somewhat of a meaning to me. I am more concerned about the fact that I was susceptible to this scam and was manipulated by it since it put me in an stressful situation, not giving me time to think what was going on as it was happening.

Also, one quick note to add, This happened after I quit TF2 for the rest of the school year. 1/27/2019 was the last time I played the game.
