    Scam Report

Report Type: [Money] PayPal scam or scam attempt
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198201087391

    Victim profile: 76561198013959073

    What happened? Description:
Here’s the entire story. I had recently bought an expensive item on Counter Strike when I suddenly got a notification that this guy added me. I figured he was trying to propose a trade so I accepted and he convinced me to trade. He showcased his profile and comments which were highl y positive in terms of whether or not he should be aware trusted. He has over 5000 trades made so I figured I could trust him. He proceeds to set up the PayPal for when he sends me my money. I send him the trade and he send my money, but then I see no notification of any money sent to me. He told me to wait as it takes time since he was in Europe and I’m in the U.S. Time went by and I never got my money and over the course of a full week I tried reaching out to him asking for help. I asked to set up calls, check his PayPal history, and to even contact PayPal support, but he continuously avoided my messages to the point where I started to panic I had been scammed. I asked him to coordinate with me or I would contact steam, and then he proceeded to threaten to unadd me and sell my item. In addition, he insulted me when I told him I would contact support. This item was expensive and he owed me $215 and he completely lied and scammed me into giving it to him! On that note, he had basically begged me to trade with him and his comments showcased people saying he could be trusted. He now still has the knife but someone just recently requested to trade for it. He avoided fixing this issue and now he refuses to return my knife, so I lost $215. I don’t want any other person to fall into this mans lies. He should not be allowed to trade at all as he is a scammer who needs to be banned immediately.

    What happened? Description:
I had purchased an expensive knife on Counter Strike about two months ago and recently needed the money for issues. I then received a notification that someone had commented on my artwork (I'll upload it). He gave interest in my knife, and I figured I could see what he has to offer. He then proceeds to add and call me on discord. I was smart to type to him so then I had evidence in case he tried to scam me. The guy has over 5000 trades made, but who says they aren't gifts from friends? His comments are filled with "+rep trusted" but who knows if he deleted all negative comments to display a fake profile? Continuing, he basically begs me into trading with him and promises to pay me money through PayPal. He promised $215 and he even shared his screen to show me how I can "trust" him. How the trade had to work was that I needed to send him the steam trade first and then he would immediately send the money to me on PayPal. At the time, I found him trustworthy to trade with, so I went first and traded him the knife. He then clicks "send money" on PayPal (I saw on his screen) and all seemed well. He lives in Europe (his profile says Denmark) and so he said the transaction may take a few minutes. He then leaves the call, but I didn't get any email or notification that I had received money. Over the course of a week, I would message him on discord AND steam to try to contact this guy. His replies never answered my questions and gave little effort in securing my end of the trade. Eventually, about 5 days had passed and I lost my patience. He came to me saying there was a pay limit on PayPal that was $500. This is ridiculous, if he had told me these conditions in the first place, I would not have traded with him. He then sent me this suspicious link to a site and said I needed to purchase a gift card to him for $154 so he can send me the $500. I didn't have the money to pay for that so I simply asked for my knife back and he said no. He said this was the only way for me to receive ANYTHING or else I won't get my money OR my knife back. I warned him that I would contact support if he did not send my money or return my knife back. He owed me $215! It was the most expensive item in my backpack! When I warned him, he then proceeded to insult me using inappropriate language. Examples, "If you do that I will f✿✿✿ your mother" and "Who tf u think u are?" He also threatened to sell my knife for $1 on the community market. I didn't want things to get heated and cause him to sell my item, so eventually her calmed down. I asked him numerous of times why he can't just give me my knife back. Apparently, someone was interested in the knife and is already going to purchase it off of him. He never told me about putting it up for trade since we still never completed our deal. He avoided contact and proceeded to sell my item while I never got my money? And then he says I got to pay more money to him? Furthermore, if you observe the pictures, he told me he will back the item to me after the trade hold releases, which is why I waited so long, yet now he's selling it when I had zero notice of it. You'll also notice he requested money from me on PayPal to get me to give him more money so he could send me $500. This was the only way he said, or else I wouldn't get anything at all. This is a complete scam, he completely avoided contact so he could gain profit and in short; I lost $215 to this guy all for nothing. I don't want anyone to have to encounter this guy to trade with. He is a liar and will act nice and fake in order to steal your money. He should not be allowed to trade at all after he had stole $215 from me and whoever else he stole from.
