    Scam Report

Report Type: [Rep Fraud] Impersonation with intent to defraud
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198295261711

    Victim profile: 76561198043693071

    What happened? Description:
Scam type: Impersonation & Fraud Scam

    Context:

Contacted me and suggested that I sell my stuff on Marketplace.tf, I had heard of Marketplace and know that it is a trusted place. However, I do believe that this user had foul intent, as he asked me if I had signed into the site and I said yes. As soon as that happened a bunch of Marketplace bots, started adding me for my items so I could trade them on the site. Being the absolute idiot that I am, I checked the Steam accounts and found that they were all in the Marketplace.tf Steam group, so I went ahead with the trade. I’ve learnt my lesson the hard way.

(◄FA†MAN►) <- Current name at the moment. This person is basically the front man who got the scam rolling.

This person is currently banned on Steamrep for impersonating, I may be wrong, but this might be another case of this happening with this user.

    SteamRep URL:

    https://steamrep.com/search?q=http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198295261711/

I think that this person was waiting for the right time to get his other accounts to send trade requests, hence him asking constantly “have you done that”, etc, etc, ergo impersonating a reputable trading website and other Steam users.

    Bot list:

    - Marketplace.TF | Bot 08

    - Marketplace.TF | Bot 35

    Extra Info:

He also impersonated this user: (◄FA†MAN►)

    Steam Profile URL: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Thenotsofat-Fatman/

This was when they sent me “their” Backpack.tf page, when he asked me what I wanted for my unusual. I didn’t think anything of it, everything looked the same and legit, at first.

I contacted Josh Coffey [Steam Profile Name: Geel] (the person who created Marketplace.tf), and he banned these bots from their Steam group, unfortunately they are all fakes. So, that's confirmed.

    Geel’s Steam URL: https://steamcommunity.com/id/geel9

FYI: The chat log screenshot has him nicknamed as "scammer", I did this after the deed had been done.

Please reply/message me for more info that you may need.

Unfortunately, I don't have the full chat log from this person, as the conversation went on for about an hour.

Actually, scratch that. I readded the person and used my phone's memory of the chat log. Here are the screenshots of the whole thing, including him impersonating another Steam user.

Here's more evidence. He's basically trying to extort money from me. There are a few more chat screenshots to come.

He's still trying to extort me for my items. Here he admits to what he is doing. I've reported the bots and this person's account on Steam, via the report and support functions.
