What happened? Description:

They attempted to scam me along with their friend impersonating as a "reddit moderator" and "trade middleman".
I've also made an issue on backpack.tf about this.

I understand that this isn't much urgent since they failed in my case;
but I think some strong measures should be taken for prevention & future deterrence.



What happened:

He messaged me, expressing that he wanted to buy my "Strange Australium Minigun", worth of 25 keys.
(I believe he had found me from the sale I posted on SCM for this item.)


While so, he said that he wanted to only pay with cash or steam gift card codes.
I replied that's ok, and suggested him to buy from my MannCo.Store Shop.
but he insisted not to use any such website or services, and only to pay my self; so I gave him my Crypto wallet address.


he then asked me to sell him I quote "all expensive items" that I own, claiming that he wants to buy all of them.
we agreed on a price of $82 eventually for 5 or 6 items. (he did not bargain at all)




it was at this point that he said he wans to be safe;
so he sent me a random reddit channel link, claiming that they're "legitimate reddit moderators, who are expert in trading operating as middlemen".
from this reddit link he introduced His Accomplice, Luke.


the Scam Accomplice was this profile:

they basically wanted me to transfer the items to this accomplice;
but I refused and instead suggested that we request someone with a good trust score on backpack.tf .
when I refused the Main Scammer was furious, showing a ton of red flags over time.
he tried to make me greedy, proposing to pay $82 for the minigun alone!
after I refused he proposed $100 for it!!​

I'm just trying to help the community I wouldn't fall for an scam that easily.
