What happened? Description:

This person added me a couple days ago but only messaged me yesterday, and I responded to them today. They claimed to be interested in buying my unusual hat on TF2, I assumed on the steam market, but they later said that they would "gift" me the money. They claimed that there was a function on steam that allows people to gift money to each other, which I looked up and only found sources saying the opposite, that it was not possible to gift money on steam. I asked him to tell me where this function is on steam, to which he replied "on you steam." At this point I realized he was trying to scam me, but I was still curious to see what he would do, so I asked him to send me a trade offer. After this, I blocked him and reported him on steam.

Apparently the same user has attempted a similar scam on others (see: https://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198347450130-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.186630/) but that submission was rejected.​

Provide Evidence:

The first four images show the chat log in full. The fifth is his profile page, to verify his identity. The sixth is the cancelled scam trade offer that he sent me.​

i would only be willing to sell for higher than the guy selling it for $34.50 because of the cut steam takes from it, if I wanted to get $32.20 (14 keys) from selling it then the price you'd pay would be $37.03
you might be better off just buying 14 keys off the market and trading them for the same hat on backpack.tf, that's what people are selling it for on there
