What happened? Description:

Scammer messaged me, asking to trade his "Hyper Beast" for my flip knife slaughter, minimal wear with diamond pattern. He had only 9 items in his CS:GO inventory, one of them being a Factory New, StatTrack M4A1-S Hyper Beast. I deliberated on the trade and after some urging from the scammer in the chat, decided the $20 overpay was generous although reasonable and too good to pass up. I sent the scammer an offer, after careful price checking and making sure I didn't miss-click on the trade offer. Scammer declined offer stating that he wanted my own field-tested M4A1-S Hyper Beast as well, which I thought was reasonable, although I told him the trade was a bit steep since I really liked my knife and wanted a good overpay. He offered me 2 keys which I accepted. He told me to give him another trade offer, which I slowly did, again checking each of the item's prices carefully. I reported the user for exploiting a bug in Steam to switch items on me (I never even saw my knife or beast in his inventory after; he must have been using trading scripts), but it's more likely that I missed the condition change and was quick-switched. To my chagrin, upon opening my inventory in CS:GO to check out my new M1A4-S, I realized I had received a well-worn instead of a factory new rifle, and my heart stopped.​

Thanks for your support ☢may eleven. It's too bad that Valve is so slow to act. I was scammed Monday morning and filed a report with evidence immediately. I've watched this guy's inventory cycle and friend's list change and felt so hopeless coming back to his profile page every day and seeing no action taken. I wish I could help all the scammers find better jobs and so we could trust other human beings without having to frenetically check trade offers and the like.

I'm afraid he never mentioned that in chat. I do have a screenshot of his inventory from when he asked me to trade (shows the factory new Hyper Beast) although I don't show the time. I also have the trade I made before, that he declined and asked me to add more stuff. The fact that he only has one Hyper Beast that he switched conditions of in his inventory, while I was trading him, isn't relevant? That really sucks. Perhaps someone will come on here and be able to contribute more scam evidence, although I've been trying to warn the people on his friends list before they become victims.
