    Scam Report

Report Type: [Gambling] Fake gambling website
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198873553210

    Victim profile: 76561198274533295

    What happened? Description:
Added me out of the blue and asked if I could place a link on my steam profile and would pay me in items to do so. Provided a link to a site called tf2success.com. Entire thing was already shady so I asked him to provide some proof otherwise. Was speaking in pretty broken English despite very well written profile and it saying he was from Australia. Didn't provide any explanation or story behind why he is suddenly needing people to post this link on his profile.

Site seems to be a gambling website from my own lookups. Profile is possibly compromised.

    Provide Evidence:
Most virus scanning things show negatives but websniffer was showing html code that looked like a gambling website.

    [2:44 PM]
    ᑅChieftainᑀ:
    i need your help
it take a couple of minutes
i work on the site and i need your help with promotion site
can you put link site somewhere on your profile?
if you help me then i will pay you items

    [2:51 PM]
    Mewbusi:
    What links?

    [3:10 PM]
    ᑅChieftainᑀ:
    https://tf2success.com/ this site
i can show you how i will pay
    if you want

    [3:13 PM]
    Mewbusi:
Ok, dude. I'm going to be nice about this but it seems as if this account is compromised or you simply thought that asking people to put links on their pages wasn't going to turn everyone's alarm bells on high alert. If its the latter all I need is for you to explain to me exactly where the links go and why you are asking about this. Thats it. Otherwise I'm filing reports on steam and steamrep for a scam attempt.

    [3:13 PM]
    ᑅChieftainᑀ:
    what do you mean?
    i just need your help
    adn thats all

    [3:15 PM]
    Mewbusi:
Let me just run this down for you ok.
You friended me out of the blue.
I don't know you in real life or in any game I played.
    So I'm already cautious.
You then ask me to post a link on my page.
To a site that I have never heard of or seen
Say that I will get items for doing so.
So it leads me down the path of multiple reasons for doing so.
The site leads to a malware ridden site, one that tries to grab your passwords via a fake login page, or its legitimate and you have been doing this to people out of the blue for some sort of gambling site.
    I'm not touching that link.
    Not without a VM.
    And I'm not intrested.
Even if you website is legitimate. This is not the way to do promotion.
This is like trying to start a watch selling business in a back alley behind an arbys.
Even if the watches are legit and not stolen. It dosen't make them look that way.
    Got it?

@Mewbusi Without that FULL screen of the users profile WHILE friends I can't confirm identity.. you failed to provide that.
    Follow next set of instructions:
Issue is I can't confirm you were ever friends with this exact user by SteamID - all I see is a chat box with a name and profile image. Need to verify this and you can do that with a screenshot of your friend/user activity thru a web browser - when you take this and it shows you adding the user hover your mouse pointer over the users name so it shows the popup of the profile. Make sure you open this in a web browser before doing anything rather than steam client. Take the screenshot and make sure it's Full Screen, not edited or cropped in any way! Upload HERE…NOT imgur, NOT gyazo or any other 3rd party hosting site!

Please review this screenshot guide should you need assistance:

Thanks, will review again soon - nothing else needed at this time and there is no need to post anything more.
Feel free to review what you have provided and take the time to see what things you can do to prevent running into users like this in the future.
