    Scam Report

Report Type: [Item Fraud] Quick-switch trade scam or attempt
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198997349632

    Victim profile: 76561198048733734

    What happened? Description:
This user impersonated another user which was my brother and hacked the system into trading with him instead of my brother. He wanted to trade with me, and I with him so we started chatting. He wanted me to send a trade offer to a trusted profile, a friend or a second profile. He wanted me to take a screenshot of a pending trade offer (to a trusted user, such as my brother) then send a screenshot of it to him. He said that he wanted proof that he could trade the item, sell it, checking the price or something. I thought it was weird and I asked him about it and he mumbled on that he needed proof or verification of something. And I thought that if he wanted it so badly it would be fine, my brother would never scam me so whatever. It is totally safe to trade privately with my brother, right? It couldn't be a scam, because my brother is safe to send offers to, this person can't infiltrate a private trade offer between two profiles, so it wouldn't matter I thought. I could had done this any day, just send a trade to my brother if he wanted to try my knife, perfectly normal, nothing wrong, just as in this situation. I haven't done anything that would result in him gaining access to my profile either, so how could it be possible? The first times I tried, it wouldn't go through, some error in the steamguard. I waited and tried again, this time it went through (it said that I should wait and try again). Took the screenshot and canceled the trade offer within seconds. But it was accepted already, weirdly, but my brother was suddenly online, which he was not before. So I thought that he just accepted it for some other reason. But when I checked his inventory it was not there. I did not have it either, and when I checked the profile in the trade, it was not my brother anymore. it was someone impersonating him. and this profile got the item which was scammed/stolen. I don't understand how this is possible? It should be safe to trade with my brother without any concern that someone can hack the trade into their benefit. Yes I am certain that it was my brother whom I sent the trade offer to. So this person managed to manipulate the system into sending the trade offer to him and not my brother. I cant understand how he managed this. This basically means whenever you want to trade something with anyone (trusted friend etc), it is never safe from someone lurking in the corner manipulating or hacking the system, this is really alarming. I did not click any links either. There were two profiles involved, the one I was chatting with and the one getting the trade offer. This is the guy who got the knife.

    Provide Evidence:
See document, everything is in there. This is the one who got the item.
