    Scam Report

Report Type: [Other] Any other fraudulent behavior
Virtual item type involved: [Other] Other game items

    Accused profile: 76561199133973089

    Victim profile: 76561198128958041

    What happened? Description:
This user commented on my profile asking if I could add them to discuss something, they also added that it did NOT involve trading. I added them and asked what they wanted to discuss. As can be seen in the attached chat log screenshots they asked if I had an alternate account with the exact same name and profile picture as my normal account. I don't have any other accounts so I responded no. They then claimed they were scammed by someone impersonating me. Since I'm not a well known trader or person in the trading community I found this highly unlikely but regardless I said it was not me. Then they told me they had already reported me to steam and that there was a problem with the report. I responded and said if they had reported me by mistake then valve would see this and dismiss the report as a false or incorrect report. They asked for me to clarify what I meant which I did. This was the last time the user messaged me. Shortly after they removed me as a friend and deleted their comment off my profile. This user had recently added a large number of other profiles as steam friends in addition to me which was also suspicious. This user was likely going to refer me to a "steam admin" person who could "resolve" the report. What exactly they stood to gain had I fallen for it I'm not sure but I have been contacted in a similar manner in the past and they often try to use some my Team Fortress 2 items or CSGO skins to "verify" my identity by trading it to the "steam admin". Just to clarify I wasn't scammed, I did not lose anything but wanted to report this user as they are likely attempting the same scam with many others. The screenshots are from the steam chat mobile app as I wasn't able to retrieve the chat log through the desktop client after the user removed me as a steam friend but the app still had the conversation.

    Provide Evidence:
Attached are the screenshots from the steam chat I had with this user. I am unable to screenshot the friend activity window showing this user having added a large amount of other steam users in addition to me as the activity page doesn't show people who have since removed you as a friend.

Unfortunately, SteamRep does not accept reports dealing with hijacking/phishing/hacking -Due to current Investigative Policy
    http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/investigative-policy.140101/

This includes anything to do with API key requests, wrong or misspelled URL's and sites requesting logins of any type in attempts to steal your credentials.
These are phishing/hijacking attempts and are not to be reported to SteamRep!
These are almost always hijacking attempts by hijacked accounts - so report to valve not here..

You can report the user to Valve instead
In order to do that, you have to:
    1. Visit the accuseds profile
    2. Click MORE drop-down located at the top right of the page
    3. Choose REPORT VIOLATION
    4. Select the violation, then describe it and provide the evidence
    5. Click SUBMIT REPORT

Click here to view an animated gif that shows how to report a violation.
