What happened? Description:

He told me a "friend" of his had an item of his and blocked him and asked if I could ask his friend to give it back. His friend then send me a trade offer which I said to the scammer. He then said, give me that item and I will give you my knife. I thought I was helping someone but in the end he was using me.​

Wait, so, i'm a little confused about what happened. Did you lose any items?

Yes I lost 4 items for a total of about $100+ which sucks greatly since 1 was a birthday gift and the other 3 were won through alot of betting, now I'm poor again. I really hope the perpetrator burns in hell for this one.
He basically came to me asking for help, which I did give. He had lost an item, asked me to try and help him get it back. during the whole ordeal the guy who has the item said only if you trade these items to me. I told the guy who I was trying to help that he wanted to trade me for it and the guy said, do the trade and you get my knife, I already saw red flags and googled the item and it said it was worth about $400. It was a DOTA item and I have 0 knowledge about DOTA so I said sure. afterwards he doesnt trade me the knife for the DOTA item and I see in the forums that it's a scam because you can get the item fairly easy. This is the item btw: https://steamcompanion.com/dota2/Autographed-Goggles-of-Utter-Eradication/. I thought it was some sort of Souvenir item like they have in CS:GO, turns out it isn't at all. Now I'm stuck with this piece of garbage with my items gone.

Hopefully all is clear now, and they get untrusted marks on their profile.

Just tried to do the right thing and help someone, but I was too naive and paid the price for it. Sadly lost a little faith in humanity once more because of this. It's sad people do this type of stuff.
