    Scam Report

Report Type: [Other] Any other fraudulent behavior
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198253517180

    Victim profile: 76561198190994970

    What happened? Description:
Attempted a trade scam/pending ban scam; referred me to a known scammer posing as a fake Steam admin.

Apparently this person was in my friends list... I do not recall how we met; it is possible that the account was hijacked, or that he was a scammer all along.

    Provide Evidence:
View attachment 708000 The attempt started at 11:45pm EST on 4/2/2019. The user claimed some tool they were using marked me a having a pending ban. I have no bans on record, past, present, or future. View attachment 708001
They claimed that they "opened a support ticket for me", and urged me to have it taken care of.

To alleviate this issue, I was supposed to add the following account ("a Steam Admin" and await instructions. View attachment 708003
This account is a fake account acting as a middleman for scams, if it was not obvious. SteamRep.com reports this account was banned 2 days ago (ID64: 76561197960566351). View attachment 708004
The profile description for the fake Steam Admin. Note the unprofessional use of vulgarity. View attachment 708005
The "friend" that attempted the scam. Screenshot here was taken before I was blocked.

The "Hatler" tool he linked me to in an attempt to prove it is legitimate.
The website is suspiciously devoid of any accreditation and the forums are all in Russian. The site also has a trust score of 48% on scamadviser.com Beware!

Dont get this wrong dude, i'm just trying to help you

    [11:24 PM]
    Arceus:
    Sure, sure.
I assume you have proof of this?

It concerns me since i know cases like this is a real deal. If you just let this pass, you will have penalties in the future
    are you aware of that?
do you have any idea why you are marked as scammer?

    [11:26 PM]
    Arceus:
Looks like you have a problem.

Whatever data that page is feeding you is a lie.

    [11:27 PM]
    Officialmerc:
Well i am using an app for trader called hatler in my pc for steam to detect if the person im dealing with is banned in any website or listed on steam support watch list and yes the app said your accout was listed as a scammed item holder by steam support

    [11:27 PM]
    Arceus:
Then you should report the app for fraudulent content.
It is possible that it is manipulating what you see.

In order for you to clear this issue, you have to contact an authorized steam admin. So i already sent a steam support ticket for you and when steam replied they told me to add this steam mod ok so steam replied and told me to add this guy https://steamcommunity.com/id/LeviMod/he will help us check your account

Add him and ask him about the screenshot i sent you. Tell him why you are flagged that way
    did you add him?

    [11:33 PM]
    Arceus:
Can you explain to me why you are attempting to scam me?

    [11:33 PM]
    Officialmerc:
    what?
    are you accusing me?

    [11:34 PM]
    Arceus:
    Yes.

    [11:34 PM]
    Officialmerc:
we've been friends since march 18 of 2018 and now you're telling me that?

    [11:34 PM]
    Arceus:
That "moderator" you linked me to is banned by SteamRep.
    http://steamrep.com/search?q=https://steamcommunity.com/id/LeviMod/he
And would you look at that- banned two days ago.
You are no friend of mine if you are attempting a shody scam.
    Photos can be manipulated.
That "tool" has a 48% trust rating.

    [11:35 PM]
    Officialmerc:
Well I have to tell you this, this is an opportunity for you to look at something carefully to find mistakes and make sure there is nothing wrong with your account because if you're account is in good condition, it shouldn't have that mark
    Right?

    [11:35 PM]
    Arceus:
    Fun fact: it does not.

    [11:35 PM]
    Officialmerc:
get information by looking at something and/or by asking about it. In that way, you'll better understand what really happened in your account.

    [11:36 PM]
    Arceus:
Nothing happened to my account, thank you.
Steam does not conduct official business via an insecure chat platform.

    [11:36 PM]
    Officialmerc:
I know most gamers wouldn't trust a random friend who says they are marked as a scammer, but hey let me just remind. Who else will help each other in cases like this? I mean i just want to pitch in and help. Plus, i know instances like this is significant and consequential.
I understand what you feel, but this is the best thing to do. Have your account checked. Well, i really dont know what's the process is gonna be but i guess they'll try to first inspect if you are really guilty of having scammed items in your inventory.

    [11:39 PM]
    Arceus:
I understand what you feel, but this is the best thing to do. I will record this conversation and send it (email) to Steam Support after filing a user report for your profile.
it is truly despicable you would stoop this low to attempt to scam digital items from users.

    [11:44 PM]
    Officialmerc:
This must be hard for you

    [11:44 PM]
    Arceus:
Yes- is "scammer" spelled with two Ms or one?
