SteamCN has been there for quite a while (2004 to now), with just a few members in the very beginning, come to a forum with 150k members and that makes us the largest steam related community in China. We started with a simple aim, that is to provide all Chinese steam users a space for discussion issue around steam. So far, we are really having a progress as a discussion community, we just sent a fan poster to Valve this year and received really positive feedback.

Nice! A chinese community! (I'm Chinese too). But I do notice that you don't really have a reporting system for scammers. Am I missing something? The ban appeals forums are mainly just filled with people trying to complain about random things. I wish you all the best in your SR community application though I do think that affiliate communities should have made an impact on trading, whether it is through guides and tips or by providing a platform for players to report scammers.

Am I correct when I say that there is nothing trade related in your community? It seems to be only a fan base / discussion site.

Good to meet another Chinese friend here, and sorry about this, you do miss something, but it is my bad that didn't explain this well. SteamCN is a discussion community as you can see, we are a combination of various functions, we have GiftZone (SteamGifts) [http://steamcn.com/f254-1]/[http://translate.google.com.hk/tran..._t&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://steamcn.com/f254-1] and of course a place for trading [http://steamcn.com/f201-1]/[http://translate.google.com.hk/translate?hl=zh-CN&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://steamcn.com/f201-1]. Also, we have a scammer report system that is manually judged [http://steamcn.com/t79629-1-1]/[http://translate.google.com.hk/translate?hl=zh-CN&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://steamcn.com/t79629-1-1]. However, when it comes to scamming, we tend to be more "stop the crime before it is conducted", we have many post teaching people how to prevent being scammed such that to protect our community members [http://steamcn.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=86536]/[http://translate.google.com.hk/tran...teamcn.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=86536] , as there was a old Chinese adage "授人以鱼不如授人以渔" (Teach them to fishing is better than giving them fish)

With all my respect, that's nah correct~ but this should be my fault that didn't state it clear. As I mentioned in the reply to ryaneus, SteamCN is a complex that mix many community functions. Trading is of course one of the most popular topic, we are the first and top Chinese community that introduced the steam item trading (Our Trading site : http://steamcn.com/f254-1 / http://translate.google.com.hk/translate?hl=zh-CN&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://steamcn.com/f201-1). We started as a fan site and then expanded to a multi-topic community (Trading, Gift Giveaway, News, Translation, Game Review) and almost everything you want to do around Valve and Steam (in chinese~).

Also we are pleased to announce that the global ranking of SteamCN is now approaching 30k based on Alexa stat, that's a huge achievement compare to the 100k of last year.

He joined the group as the head of a partner community of ours back then, which took place after this application.

If you trace his profile introduction back, you will realize he had removed the statement of partnership with us years ago.

He is still in the ADMIN group becuz the group is actually founded by another staff of ours who went AFK. That's also why we have to create another group.

As I said, things have changed a lot, we didn't foresee our community can grow so rapidly in few years time. Sorry for all this inconveniences.

Why don't you use Web API to block scammers?

Why did you call it "SteamRepCN"? That's awfully close to our site and could be confusing to the public.

    -API
we did apply for the access here: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/want-to-try-the-steamrep-web-api-beta.8755/page-9#post-249620 in the Q3 of last year.
but we didn't get any response from the moderator, so we have to let it go. Instead we encourage ppl to install the plugin "Enhanced Steam" as an alternative way to ID scammers.

    -SRCN
yea... I agree the name wasn't a wise choice... just like the SteamCN...
hate to admit this but it's a rip-off to SR to a certain extent, we started this site as we thought there won't be any chance to see you guys replying our API and friends application.
Yet we need something to help Chinese traders to prevent fraud, and named it after SR since we THOUGHT you guys won't care about us any more (not a wise choice indeed).

I do not see how whether we reply to your application or not should affect the name choice. It's just bad.

I don't want to get to this point at all, but if you really want to know the reason:
Back to then, we thought you guys didn't take us seriously and literally ignored our app for years, so we started our database with an ideology that "we don't need SR" and "we can do it without SR".

Just in case you did not notice: prior to your reply I edited my post to:

And that is why you decided to name it SteamRepCN... I don't see the logic behind it.

In other words, the name SRCN was there simply to piss SR off by ripping it off.

Look, I am not asking for your forgiveness over this "naming after one without permission", just like I am not going to ask for an apology about this "on hold for two years without a single explanation" thing.
And I know what we have told you is not being helpful to the application, but if you really want a full, uncut, sincere explanation, here it is:

Let's just say people do things for different situation:

There won't even be such a site naming after steamrep if I knew you guys didn't really forget about us.
But I will still do the same thing if the time went back to then, for the fact that you guys slapped the fellow communities with that progress of handling application, which seemed like you don't care and ofcuz don't mind let the name use by people who still wants to take your responsibility that you fail to act.

When we applied for "partnership", we wanted to encourage Steamrep to push it's well-known reputation in China, Taiwan, Hongkong and among other users who has problem with English with localization and integrated database. Where were you guys at that time? and is this all the channel you have for "partnership" ?
It was SR itself let the Fraud Prevention split into parts, starting with those Reddits of rep, and now SRCN. None of this would have happened if SR takes community issues a little more seriously.

SteamRep is a true leader in the anti-fraud database that's not a lie, but do you really think it's so righteous to just 'wait' partnership app like you 'wait' for those appeals thread?
Can't you just handle these benign partnership opportunities more friendly and effectively? Instead of this mighty-all-the-time manner to judge applications yet in an insouciance way.
