    6. What are your community's policies on scamming & scamming-related activities?

Our community's policy on scamming & scamming-related activities are very strict. Any player that has been labeled with a [Scammer] tag is immediately permanently banned from using our servers, with no appeal. This is to prevent any user to fall into a trap, or be scammed by said user in question. If there are any accusation of attempted scam, we promptly deal with that person, ask them what happened, and if we deem it a legitimate scam/attempt, we kick/ban said user and request that the victim files a report on SteamRep.

    7. Why does your community wish to be affiliated with SteamRep?

My community wishes to be affiliated with SteamRep because we deal heavily around trading. I myself promote the use of our server and our website as a hub to make trades between members of our community, and keeping everything as secure and safe as possible. By being affiliated with SteamRep, we can extend our security, and have the policies we already use be re-enforced by the SteamRep community, and furthermore making our community a more safe place to trade in.

    11. Please provide additional details about your community such as how it came to be, how long it has been around, the primary goals of it, what it does, etc.

Myself being a young, avid gamer, I sought out to find new friends on the internet that share the same gaming interests as myself. I found a nice Half Life 2: Deathmatch server, with very kind people on it, and decided to make it my home. That server had it's own clan, which I worked my way up the ranks, and eventually became a co-owner. Things started to go downhill, finding out things about the other co-owners, bad things. Scamming people out of their money, coaxed as a "payment for becoming a moderator" things, only to remove them and permanently ban them days after the money went through.

At that point I decided that I wanted to create my own community, aspire to be something better. What could I do to be better than those degenerate people, stealing from others for their own benefit? Henceforth, I created the NIGHT Clan Community. The NIGHT Clan Community first came to be in April of 2009.

How did I originally get the name for such a group? I was 15, my screen name was Nightmare. I figured it would be kool, and somewhat ironic to have a community named after myself. So you ask it, so it shall be! I wanted to find a new Primary game to become the host of for this group, TF2 being in it's UPDATE prime, I decided to settle down with a few TF2 servers. Throughout the years, I've gone through about 5-6 different servers going between offline and online, all due to the fact I was a minimum wage clerk at a grocery store. But hey, we're alive today! Strong and fit as ever!

The primary goals of The NIGHT Clan Community is to create a healthy, safe, environment for to people to play on; All while maintaining the fun, sporadic, enjoyable feeling of being included in a group that you can call your own. We're all about community participation, trying to maintain weekly events to attend, and sometimes even giveaways so that people feel included and special!

I could go on and on about what we do, and who we are; but I don't think that you'd want to read it all! ahaha. I at least hope you enjoyed my little short story about the community though! :)
    12. Please post your community's desired banner (if not already on SR). Banners should be 225x48.

    Welcome.

I am guessing you worded that badly. There should ALWAYS be an appeal process, and of course with SR tags, that is handled via SR itself. With SR plugin, if you set to ban for a period, say a week, then if the user appeals to SR and succeeds, they simply rejoin when the ban expires, removing any SB work from Admins.

I presume you have an appeal process for any server bans you impose yourself guys?

Yes, I did word that badly; my apologies. My mind wandered a bit with that sentence, allow me to correct myself! "with no appeal until an admin is spoken to about the matter." is what I meant.

Yes, all a user has to do to appeal a ban is to post information in accordance to a guideline we pin to the top of the thread's section.

I like what I see, and hope to see you as a steamrep affiliate one day!

Only thing I reacted to what already brought up by VenGanZa (The old grump is quicker than me)
A suggestion here is simply banning for a week or even a day.
You will still effectively block out all scammers trying to join, but if they successfully appeal there is no ban on them, blocking them from the server. Just saying that if every server was to permaban scammers, telling them to make a separate appeal, it would get tiresome after 4 appeals on different servers.

Not sure if I see this right, but if you perma ban players with [SCAMMER] tag, why not simply enable the ban feature on the plugin?

That makes complete sense, definitely something I'm willing to change, without a doubt.

Never thought about it, but yeah; that would of worked better!

If you set SR Plugin to ban for a given period (1 week for example), that removes any need for Admins to do any work with Source Bans and Appeals, if a player successfully appeals on SR, tag is removed and after 1 week they can join server, if anyone is in a rush, then you can fix up SB as required.

Setting to ban is really essential in terms of no tolerance of scammers :)

I apologize for making a double post.

I'd just like to make it known that I've updated some of my community rules to make things more reasonable.
(i.e) scamming, VIP command abuse, etc.
  10. Interesting community....... Although you guys seem great i do have a major concern.

    According to your sourcebans: http://www.thenightclan.org/Sourcebans/index.php

There is not a single trade server up and at the time of writing the server with the IP: 208.115.109.212:27015 Seems offline. Also as a reminder, the server that you mentioned (7.202.70.6:27015 ) is a IDLE 24/7 Server according to the name. Let me remind you that an idle server is completely different from a trade server. That being said, you don't clearly have a single trade server up.

Why do you guys ban, from what it seems for only a single day for almost everything.

Some of the longer bans, longer than a day have very long reasons, and generally don't make much sense.

wut? policing a idle server? wtf nobody patrols on idle servers.... if ppl don't know that they can just as easy idle in spectator, they deserve to be dominated by a spy abusing a tele into spawn. (no idea what they are doing there anyway, probably failing too hard to play in a real server).

I saw a ban for "multi-hack" on a idle server..... ROFLMAO

I'd like to apologize in advance for the late reply, I haven't checked in on this thread in a few days as I stopped receiving notifications about it in my email.

We originally had 3 servers. 24/7 Idle (which is currently our only server due to circumstances I'll state after), 24/7 trade, and 24/7 2Fort. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was receiving hosting from 2 different providers. Xenon servers, and UNIT servers. At that time, both the Trade server, and 2fort server previously mentioned were both hosted through UNIT. They recently underwent a merge and became EDGE servers, and through that merge they decided to drop all sponsors they had, myself being one of them.

I've had all my trade server members redirected to my idle server instead. Which, up to this point, has been working out fine. I'm to get my trade server back up, and if I have to, I'll be changing our idle server over to 24/7 Trade to compensate. For an Idle server, my idle is actually about 1/3rd idle, and the rest are active members, who come play/trade daily.

I make sure that all of my moderators only ban for a maximum of 24 hours if the player in question has no prior offenses. I'm still working on making sure that my moderators know how to post PROPER reasons, a couple moderators in specific... Which is why some of the bans don't make sense.
Like I said, i'm currently having all my previous server members come onto my idle until I get a new Trade server running, so my idle server always has active traffic and barely and actual idlers. We moderate this server mainly due to that fact. I've been highly considering dropping this server as an idle, and just making it our new trade server if this persists past this month..
Our map has a lot of drop offs, which happen to be right outside of spawn (which lead to your death). A lot of our players complain about this, so we warn most pyros not to overuse their airblast. Those who ignore the request end up getting kicked to be fair to other players. There are bans for this reason because a few players like to be persistent trolls.

Update: I've went into SourceBans and fixed the servers list. It should only show our active server now.

I'll also be having a community meeting with all of our active members tonight informing them about our idle server change over to our new trade server. I've been putting it off for too long now.
