Trolls or Troublesome Players

I was just wondering on different community policies on them. And also, whether when you get an extremely troublesome player do you tell other communities or ask about them?

Well every server gets its fair share of problematic players, and all have rules to deal with them.

As for communities working together it depends on the community. Personally I find MCT Admins to be the most helpful to me, I frequently get Brian, Thidran, PatyMCT and others sending me a message to warn about a particular trouble-maker on the loose.

Most troublemakers I see try to skirt around the rules and are actually quite entertaining. I usually leave these fellows alone, unless they start breaking rules or aggravate the community enough.
Many people tell me I'm too lenient so maybe I should lower my tolerance levels.


I used to moderate a private community that is now defunct. Having the #1 rule as vague as "friendship is paramount" was a very bad idea. 2/10, would not recommend.

Oh following on, I must say it would be great if more Admins in the community actually spoke to each other.

As I said I find MCT Admins are excellent as reaching out to other networks/servers for most things, be nice if everyone got into the habit of disseminating info and helping each other

I ask because it may be advisable to have some sort of way to share constantly troublesome players. Not like a ban database but like a "Hey this guy did this" sorta thing.

Well there are a lot of things I wish might happen. I brought up the fact that a mechanism where all Admins can communicate in real time would be very handy, and certainly that would address "problem players", however it is easier said than done.

There are tons of things that would be nice, like a centralised Rep Site that doesn't have rules that limit participation or a centralised sharking repository that actual functions in terms of the entire community.

None of things I see happening in the short term

The latter should be out within a few days.


Also, is there a centralized mumble now a days? I know we used to use Chaos'. If there needs to be one, I can always throw Haroon's out there.

The trouble is many people, me included, have enough junk open. No way on earth most people want to play and use Mumble/Vent at the same time, certainly I will not.

Perhaps time has come to look into this again, I will speak to Helen later, we went over this many months ago.
