    It was because of the whole underage gambling + Valve shenanigans that went on; Valve has taken every step possible to make it as clear as daylight they have no affiliation with sites who make use of Steam OpenID.

    As Dragoon linked, it's just something Valve changed in their Steam Community API recommendations. We changed to match those. It's particularly appropriate for SteamRep as some people have confused us as being affiliated with "Steam" itself, which we definitely are not.
