Good day. I encountered this person the other day, when they offered to buy my unusual Heavy Duty Rag, in exchange for his HDR which also had spectral spectrum on it because they "liked the name and level". As I am new to the whole unusual trading scene, I knew that I should check the item history in fact it has been duped. I tried, however I I evidently was not thorough enough, as it transpired the unusual was infact duped. One thing that made me believe the hat was legitimate, was that I asked him in the trade window if it was duped. He said that it wasn't, however I do not have proof of this because at the time I did not suspect anything, so did not save the trade chat. I did however find his trade in which he stated that it was unduped, so that's kind of a bit of proof. But obviously not strong enough.

I was hinted that the hat was duped when I found his trade, noticed that one of his links was broken, so politely tried to help him out. Instead he laughed at me and my duped hat. It was at this point that I ran a more thorough check and discovered that it was not "100% clean", as he had stated.

So, I watched him, as it was possible, that he might have made a mistake and only found out it was duped after he had traded. But, he was at it again with another duped unusual, this time a SF Pugilist, stating again that it was clean. I proved to him it was not, and so he hides my proof, closes the trade and starts a new one. This tells us that we can be certain he knows that it is duped.

I then had a friend pretend to be interested, however he only copied the chatlog over to me, which isn't solid proof, however I'll still include it. I then fired up an alt, and had a conversation in which I asked him if it was duped, he denied it.

He needs to be marked on steam rep as untrustworthy, ASAP, as before I managed to file this report, he managed to sell the pugilist, and is up to his old tricks.

I should probably point out that the hat he originally had wasn't duped, as the profiles are both private, and I have confirmed that Lawrence does not have a copy of this hat. I'm assuming that the other copy is not real either, however since the guy hasn't been online in over a year, so I can't confirm. So I guess intially the "scammer" did nothing wrong, however he believed it was duped and pretended it wasn't, and the second occasion he did the same thing, only the real thing.

Just uploading these, as puush deletes screenshots after a certain amount of time.
I believe I ordered them as I initially did.

I am not convinced that this person is scamming or has scamming intentions. Lying about items being duped might get a banned/caution tag, but that is not apparent here. I wish you took screenshots of the item histories as I am unable to determine this (nor is it my job to hunt down more evidence).

As it is, they don't appear to have any malicious intentions anymore as there are no other reports on them. Also, were you on an alt when you talk to him the second time? That would be considered entrapment if so.

I'm going to reject the report as it is, but make note of it for future reference. I think everything in here is somewhat suspicious but just not enough to warrant a tag at the moment.
