The user added me with an extremely appealing offer of an unusual quicksell which I unfortunately accepted.

Later on, after putting the hat on tf2outpost the proper owner posted through his TF2outpost account saying that his account was hijacked: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11235862

I closed the trade immediately afterwards. We continued our conversation in this TF2outpost thread: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/11190257

He claimed he "doesn't use Steamrep" and didn't report himself so far so I did it for him.

doesnt bugr's history show the guy he traded the unusual to?

From what I can see (Using tf2outpost.com and TF2items.com) it seems more like whoever it was used BugR's account to trade with you then added the buds to his account, as the hat says that both you and him own it, or it could be that that is an earlier dupe of the hat with one of the other owners having traded it on. but looking at the evidence it seems that it only moved between both you and BugR, which doesn't give us anywhere to go with to find your 8 buds.
