    Hello there! I'm a dude who likes to trade, and I try to be as polite and trustworthy as I can be. However, many don't like to follow that mindset, and go by the opposite. Those people are known as Scammers. I will be counting Red Flags so feel free to count them.

    Now, a scammer who had grown onto me over the ages and sat in my friends list asked me if I wanted to sell my unusuals for PayPal, following a " Sorry, I don't have a PayPal account" from me. I said maybe if it was Steam Wallet we could make a deal. He asked for my 3 unusuals and I asked for 305$. No sooner did I say that did he say '1 sec brb' and go afk. Note we hadn't set a firm deal how to trade or anything. I only said my price, but I didn't have the chance to suggest trading methods. You'll understand why that's a problem in a minute.

    He comes back a few minutes later saying 'Hey man, I have the money.' A 305$ Steam Card (Red Flag #1 because I'm sure those do not exist.) 'Trade me and I'll give you the code' he stated. I said 'That's kind of risky for me', and asked if he could go first. He refused with only a 'I cannot trust you.' (Red Flag #2 because not only did he scam someone later on that same day, but I have MORE rep than him on backpack.tf, which is the most reliable source of rep since profile rep is easy to forge). He then said he would only trade if I go first and said I would give my unusuals, and for each I'd get 100$ directly after each trade, so I would end up with 300$. After an hour of pushing and prodding at me I finally gave in and traded one of my unusuals to him. He then is silent for a long while and says 'I just remembered, I can only give it all at once. Give me all your unusuals and I'll give you the code' ( Red Flag #3 because not only is this extremely douchey, it's also suggesting I was scammed by what he did next) Panicking I asked for my unusual back since I didn't feel comfortable during the trade and we could find a more effective way. I suggested we use the marketplace, as there is no way one would get scammed through that. He refused with stupid answers like ' I don't want you to pay that fee, it's too large' and 'what if I get chargebacked'. (Red Flag #4 because that's basically impossible.) He said we could do it through middleman, and I accepted. He brought a middleman with negative rep, 2 VAC bans, and a pending scam report. (Red Flag #5, I don't think it needs explaining.) I was instantly convinced this was a scam and asked for my unusual back again. He repeatedly refused getting me more and more anxious til' I snapped and said, 'If he wants to scam me, the least I can do is give him a taste of his own medicine.' I then promised him a trade for all 3 unusuals for the apparent Steam Code if he traded my unusual back, and said I'd go first. He made me agree to a condition, but being a scammer's dream offer he accepted, and once the trade was finished I instantly blocked and removed him on all sites. No less then 30 minutes later did I see a pending SteamRep report. I checked it out and got some friends to give opinions, and they all agreed on the same thing. He was a butthurt scammer trying to get back at me for making him look like a fool. He had many other reports on him, and if you check his trust it's dangerously suspicious. It was obvious he was lying, and supported insufficient proof of how I apparently promised him I'd trade him if he gave me HIS unusual (which was obviously mine for a good long while and I even have a screenshot to prove it) for all my unusuals for 305$. That is a painfully stupid lie, I know, but it's the truth. Proof? Sure. Here's the report: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198088200122-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.99136/ and my proof on how he's lying abut the trade is right there. Now, to the question;

    How long does it take for a report to expire/get archived, especially with one with so little evidence and so much word distortion? I mean, to be honest, it's kinda frightening to see that report just lying there, even though I know it won't be banned for I hadn't done wrong here, other people are asking me left and right, 'Spam, you scammed?! I'm ashamed of you!' And ' Spam, I thought you were the most trustworthy person...', and the ever-so-heartbreaking 'Spam, I trusted you ;'c'. Please respond with your thoughts and opinions on the matter, along with your answers to the question. Thanks guys c:

    If you provide the chat logs and trade history and post them in the report then it will be closed when a moderator goes through it

    that should go on a report, not in general discussion. Also, outside steam chat we cannot verify whom you are chatting with. Which means its useless.

    That's what I'm afraid of. All I have is some useless bits of text and a teeny bit of information showing that I gave him my item then got it back and left.

    What I'm scared of is that he will forge pictures and screenies and fool SteamRep and i will get the ban. None of us have solid proof, and I know a 100% he is lying but I have no way to give evidence.

    Tbh, unless either of you have chat logs stating why you traded the unusual to him, and he traded it to you, theres nothing anyone can prove. It'd just be a case of your word against his

    True. But what you haven't yet grasped is why I did I that, and why I tricked you into giving me back my unusual and then left. You have to understand that, and think about it. By the way, it wasn't really a PayPal scam, PayPal wasn't used once in all of this.

    This should be locked/merged with the pending report. It's no longer general discussion.

    Paypal is just the placeholder "term" for "any virtual money system", like webmoney, steamwallet, etc.
