    Scam Report

Report Type: [Item Fraud] Quick-switch trade scam or attempt
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198272993242

    Victim profile: 76561198157644418

    What happened? Description:
They messaged me asking if I'd like to trade my items, stating that he trades on OPskins and offered a bunch of items which in total had a pretty decent overpay. As I wasn't at home and was on underground public transport which an internet connection was only available at each station, he said that it's best to do the trade the next day.

The next day, I said I wanted to keep my item as I thought the offer wasn't good enough. He countered and added more items to the offer. He started saying he loved the skin I had, saying it's his "fav awp skin" but shortly after he said he wanted the skin to give to his friend 'Evilest Raider', and I had no idea who they were (however earlier I checked my incoming trade offers and the fake opskins bot which sent me the offer is now known as 'EvilestRaider'. I will make a separate report linking this report to it).

He said that EvilestRaider wanted to offer me a knife for my item. We then agreed on a deal and then he asked me to list the skin on opskins to make sure it's marketable on there. He wanted my trade link, which I gave. He wanted to call but my mic wasn't working on steam. He alternatively invited me to a lobby where he was talking and I was typing in steam messages. I later realised this was to avoid getting chat evidence of him going through the scam attempt. He asked me to list my item for $444 and I did, but he said it wasn't showing up for him. It was clearly listed, but he was lying. He asked me to take it down but just add it to the opskins listing queue and I'd receive a trade offer from an opskins bot. I did, and I knew it was fake. I declined the offer but I said I accepted it to him. He sussed me out knowing that I knew he was scamming me and I told him I knew how the site works. He left the lobby and ignored me completely. He didn't remove me like most scammers would, and I didn't remove him because I needed the chat evidence for when I have the time to make a report.

    Provide Evidence:
As I wasn't at my computer during 2/3rd of the trade and was using the steam phone app for messaging, I couldn't take screenshots via my computer as only the later stage of the trade messages are displaying on my steam client. The whole chat log happens to be in all it's glory on the steam phone app so I had to take screenshots of that. The amount of screenshots also happens to be the upload limit of files, which is handy.

    @WKD
Thanks - issue is I can't confirm you were ever friends with this exact user by SteamID - all I see is a chat box with a name and profile image. Need to verify this and you can do that with a screenshot of your friend/user activity thru a web browser - when you take this and it shows you adding the user hover your mouse pointer over the users name so it shows the popup of the profile. Make sure you open this in a web browser before doing anything rather than steam client. Take the screenshot and make sure it's Full Screen and make sure steam client URL is enabled, not edited or cropped in any way! Upload HERE…NOT imgur, NOT gyazo or any other 3rd party hosting site!

Review this screenshot guide to help you:

As for the fake bot that sent you the offer... the following for that
Please provide a full screen shot of that trade offer again- open this with a web browser, move your mouse over the users name in question so it shows up the hypertext popup URL at the bottom of the screen - take the screen shot DO NOT edit it in anyway and upload.

As requested, I've provided a raw screenshot of the trade offer from the fake bot within a browser. I still have the accused on my friends list. The fake bot is friends with the accused, so there is a definite connection.

Slightly confused when you said "Need to verify this and you can do that with a screenshot of your friend/user activity". If you mean in friends activity where it shows "<username> and <username> are now friends", then there's an issue because I added the accused about a couple months ago after we played a match when meeting in a public lobby.

Screenshot you just gave me is incorrect - you apparently did not read the guide I linked.

When did you add the user - give me an approx DATE.

The only way I know how to find out when I added them is from the trade screen. However...

I was able to trade with them when they were attempting to scam me. Perhaps they disabled steam guard?

According to the chat screenshots you talked to the user a few days ago - so far there is nothing that links you and the accused to this report @WKD
Anything else you wish to add to this report?

I've been extremely busy this week, hence the reason why I was using my phone to reply to them on. I've only had the time to make a report today. Only the last messages appears in the chat log on the steam client. The rest have somehow disappeared on the steam client and are only obtainable from the steam mobile app. If there's a way to obtain them, I'd genuinely like to know.

I've also noticed something odd in my friends list. This other user is the only person on both the accused and my friends list.

    | steamname: BertMANdatory
    | steam3ID: [U:1:157195195]
    | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:78597597
    | steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198117460923

Their profile picture is the same as an OPskins bot. Their username history indicate that they were impersonating a bot. The worst part is, I actually messaged this user shortly after Reapaz attempted to scam me. Somehow the username of the user didn't update fast enough on the steam mobile app so their name was still "[OPSKINS] Bot #116". This user also happens to be friends with EvilestRaider, the person who acted as a bot and sent me an offer. How typical.

All the facts here are backed by the screenshots that I've just provided. It really can't get anymore blatant that these users are involved in scamming and are all working together. It's unjust that they're just getting away with it, being able to continue to scam.

I and many other use Steamrep as a platform to check the reputation of users. If I get a friend request from anyone that is banned on Steamrep, I ignore them instantly. These users will continue to scam on their accounts unless their reputation is tainted. The accounts they're using seem to be their main accounts.

I'm not saying you didn't get a trade offer... I'm saying there is nothing else that links you to the accused.
Add the user back - then when they accept open up the chat box - screenshot that as it will show the last few lines of text - when you do move your mouse over the users profile image so it shows the steam profile popup.
    PC screenshots please.

They're still on my friends list. If you're talking about the fake bot who sent me a trade offer, I never had them added.

Ok seems when ever I looked I couldn't find the connection before - I see it now.
Lets get something that links the other account now
Please provide a full screen shot of that trade offer - open this with a web browser, move your mouse over the users name in question so it shows up the hypertext popup URL at the bottom of the screen - take the screen shot DO NOT edit it in anyway and upload.

The only way I could get the hypertext popup URL to appear is by hovering over the profile picture. In this screenshot, the top trade offer is from a legitimate bot and the bottom is from the fake.

Thanks - apparently doing a little research that both accounts are the same user - as in the account that sent the offer is an alt.
    Linking them up now.
