Appeal description:

Good morning/evening!

I'm currently trying to appeal the two bans on my SteamRep profile. To give proper context, the incidents in question occurred roughly eight years ago. I only played TF2 for the first ~two years after the incidents and moved on to other games/genres; however, after growing bored with other games, I've circled back to TF2. I don't trade anymore, and my inventory currently sits at around $300 (bought from mostly SMP and mannco.store). I would love to be able to utilize other platforms for purchases, but my SteamRep ban currently prevents me. It also will very rarely cause disconnects from community servers.

Regarding the incidents, I wholeheartedly admit to scamming. Before Steam implemented the strict restrictions on trading, I habitually used multiple accounts to scam a multitude of items for one to two years on both TF2 and CS:GO. The incidents listed on SteamRep are just a few of the interactions I had with players regarding scamming items, and I'm honestly surprised there wasn't a plethora of others filed against me.

In honesty, my behaviour was absolutely abhorrent. Besides committing actual fraud, I had developed a lot of sociopathic tendencies and traits, and I almost enjoyed the act of deceiving people more than I enjoyed gaining high-value items. I later learned that a lot of these behaviours stemmed from an awful childhood and mental illness, specifically BPD (as you can see by one of the alt account names). This isn't to make excuses or attempt to justify, though; it is purely an explanation of how my own (shitty) environment and experience transformed into awful character. I dread looking back at those memories, and I can only hope that the positive changes I've made can provide some sort of counterbalance to the pain I caused.

In terms of repayment, I was only able to locate one of the accounts from SteamRep that had listed a complaint, and I found a notice on their profile that stated they were in nursing school and only played single-player games now. I couldn't find any information on when they were last online, as well; I'll attach a screenshot of their profile in my appeal. If contact can be made with any of my previous scam victims, I have no problem issuing repayment for the trouble I caused.

It's difficult to illustrate proof of character online, but I'll provide whatever I can to validate that I am nothing like the person I was nearly a decade ago. The scamming occurred when I was around 14-16, and I'm currently 23. At that time, I was living with and alcoholic father and an enabler of a mother, and I was very intuitive at picking up their manipulative tactics and rearming them in the context of scamming items. I also skipped school to feed my video game escapism, and I was later expelled. My behaviour and personality caused me to inevitably burn every bridge I had, with both friends and family. I was sociopathic, narcissistic, manipulative, shallow, and completely lacked empathy; in truth, I was genuinely developing a sort of emotional sadism (as seen by the enjoyment of stealing). Nearly a decade later and I've reestablished and revitalized relationships with family and made new sets of (much better) friends. I graduate junior college in a few weeks with a 3.4 GPA, and I'll be heading to university to earn a bachelor's in chemistry. I've also spent countless hours with psychologists to completely turn my personality around, and I've started taking a deep, deep pride in being empathetic, genuine, and above all, helpful! I began working in the financial aid department of my college a few weeks ago, and I've been able to help students claim over $75,000+ in grants to help further their education.

I understand that the very nature of this appeal and even my mental illness makes trusting my explanation very difficult, and I'm beyond willing to submit any documentation/information needed to support my case. Thank you for reading!​
