I received a ban a few years ago and I want to know if the ban will ever expire or if it will stay this way till the end of time?
It will never expire, you will only be able to remove it if you have proof that it was a false report, deliver the skins to their true owner or the creator of the report withdraws the accusations
They do not expire That fact has nothing to do with the appeal reasons that someone can appeal with. A creator of a report can NOT withdraw the report after its been completed and even during the review of them the admins have the choice to do that or review as is. Paying someone back is a requirement BEFORE you submit an appeal also but even then that is not an automatic removal of any tag. Once you do appeal and if you can certainly prove that a report was false with valid proof then we will handle it on the appeal once that process is started. But just saying those things as you did isn't at all correct and not wise to give others misinformation.
Komische Frage @admins, aber würde es nicht sinn machen, wenn ein User über X days/years keinen report bekommen hat, dass dieser ban dann zu "Caution" konvertiert wird? der report soll aber dann trotzdem am profil stehen bleiben.
Funny question @admins, but wouldn't it make sense if a user has not received a report for X days/years that this ban is then converted to "Caution"? but the report should still remain on the profile. Oops, I unintentionally posted the question in german xd
I believe at this moment only some legacy bans from defunct communities are listed as "Caution" on our API. This is also a temporary measure. "Banned by SteamRep" tags can be converted to a "Caution" on a sucessful appeal, but that is done on a case-by-case basis. Keep in mind that you can only ever appeal once.
We are not Valve or Steam...we have no affiliation with either. Valve bans for various reasons, for various amounts of time be it a trade ban or a community ban. Issue is your comment here out of the blue has nothing to do with the Ops question related to Bans HERE... they were asking about SteamRep Bans/tags not what Steam does.
