What happened? Description:

I was victim to an attempted middleman scam. No items were lost and no transaction was made, however I wanted to report this user for the attempt.

I am no longer an active CSGO player and try sell off stuff every time I remember to log into Steam (which isn't too often nowadays). I'm unfamiliar with how/where to trade things now so usually I make a post on reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensiveTrade asking for some updated advice and I get a mix of people offering genuine advice and of course scammers. Hexariva offered me 4000USD for my M4A1-S with some surprisingly expensive stickers on it now and I added him on Steam after looking around for a reputable middleman of sorts.

After beginning the conversation with him on Steam, he suggested we use a 'trusted middleman from reddit' from reddit.com/r/CSGOTradings which appears to be an entirely fabricated subreddit dedicated to scamming people on CSGO. The subreddit has hard-coded CSS to fake a number of subscribed members and active users reading the subreddit at any given time (proof attached in screenshots). All users who post there also only make the one post to make it seem like an active subreddit, but are all what I assume to be bought accounts with varying age and no other posts anywhere else. Occasionally there may be some advertisement from a real user there, but this is a rare occurrence as far as I can tell. The wiki and description of the subreddit has a list of 'trusted middlemen' at the top which is entirely copied from an old version of reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensiveTrade's wiki with none of the linked profiles having any affiliation with reddit.com/r/CSGOTradings.
Googling 'hexariva scam csgo' will show results of people discussing this user and this subreddit and shows any criticism on reddit.com/r/CSGOTradings to be deleted.

After contacting Kosmo (https://steamcommunity.com/id/kosmocsgo) to be my middleman after being pointed in this direction by multiple other people, I opened a group chat with the two and went off to dinner first. By the time I had come back, Hexariva had made another group chat with the exact same name as my own and had his friend (https://steamcommunity.com/id/Shinobuxxx/) attempt to impersonate Kosmo by changing the name and description of the account. Hexariva wanted me to send my item to 'kosmo' and I get the money directly (I don't think he knows what a middleman actually does).
I do not have screenshots of this exchange because they immediately banned me from that group chat after a hilariously timed message from the real 'kosmo' in the real group chat asking if both parties were ok with using him as a middleman (which I accidentally left already).

I realise that I may not have explicit evidence, but please understand that the screenshots attached below prove the following:
- This person linked reddit.com/r/CSGOTradings subreddit to me in steam chat and suggested we use a middleman from there despite none of the following listed middlemen having any affiliation with the subreddit in question.
- This person's accomplice has a history of impersonations, most recent being https://steamcommunity.com/id/kosmocsgo.​
