What happened? Description:

This user was working with a steam friend of mine to attempt to carry out this scam.


My ex-friend claimed he had accidentally reported me for scamming/duping items, and that I had to dispute it with this user or else my account will be deleted. He then requested I add the user.

This user impersonated a Steam Helper proceeded to "check" my account. He then sent a gif showing that he had the option of permanently deleting my account, threatening to do so if I do not comply, and then requested for my Account name. After receiving it, he had requested that I give him the code that the Steam Verification System had sent to me Mobile Phone. I was suspicious and discovered the video above, so I did not comply with his further instructions. After some back and forth, he stopped replying and I noticed both him and my ex-friend has removed me from their friends list, cutting off communication.

I noticed that there had already been a report on this user but was invalid due to lack of photographic evidence, thus I will provide the photos of the conversation. After sending the video I had no intention of continuing the conversation and was simply wasting his time. He was very persistent about me sending the code.

My sister is actually a Valve employee sir, perhaps she can contact him?
I remember that they are able to verify scammers through their own integrated system in order to avoid the breach of privacy, as it would break the terms and conditions upon creation of an account
Due to personal reasons, may I ask for someone who has access to that system to check my inventory?
This might be an oversight, but I am sure that all Valve employees have the Certified Steam Helper Badge on their profiles?
You may not be able to access my account without the proper certifications*, you may have to ask upper management for this issue.

I've only known him on the internet for about 4 years or more, don't know him in real life though so I don't have any way to contact him. I used to play TF2 with him and never thought he'd actually do this sort of thing. There IS a possibility of him falling for the same scam I experienced but that's just a theory. Either way, this person is no longer the one I knew a few years back.

It seems that there have been 3 people on his friends list that have been banned for fraud as well. It could either be a connection of Scammers or unlucky victims of the scam.

Here it is! The person commenting on the screenshot ♫(Flame)♫Neon posted had been one of his friends (Shitty Wagon) reported as a scammer on SteamRep. He must have felled for the scam and lost access to his account. Poor guy.



Also the screenshots may contain sensitive information pertaining to me that I may have overlooked.* My bad.

Unfortunately he had removed me from his friend's list and I am unable to add him back nor comment on his profile, but I think that his account was definitely hijacked if you refer to my previous messages containing the image of a banned user requesting him to add them to his friends list.

Sorry but due to my account not being premium I am unable to add users as friends, it is physically impossible for me to directly contact him at this point, sadly. I'm currently asking a friend I know hasn't been hijacked to add and message him. But if that plan fails then we don't have any more options left.

I may have found his Facebook profile, I will get back to you when I have more info.

Sadly I received no reply from the person and it seems that the current user has changed the Steam Account information to (United States) as well as including "Steam Subscriber". I think this account is a lost cause and is completely under the scammers control. The profile picture and name was changed, the real name of the online friend was removed as well.
