    Hi guys,

    I did a report 3 months ago with all required information. It took 1 month to reply, well who cares?
    Probably the community who still gets scammed by the reported user.


    I didn't followed the report for this long time. I just got back to check if SteamREP had done anything and yeah they have done something. They needed more information for some reasons I don't know.

    The screenshots shows everything what they need to deal with. The related trade with the scammer from my trade history, the related alerts I've got from the Steam Support with the related goods I traded with the related user.

    Pretender (Maybe a volunteer with no sense or he is a friend from the scammer? I guess 2nd part!) needs more informations!I asked why he needs more information than the related ones, he answered its just their policy! BUT WHERE CAN I READ IT! SteamREP Policy doesn't say that they needs the trade history for the whole day! I just want to secure my and other users privacy.

    So again WHY DO YOU NEED UNRELATED INFORMATION about other trades? Don't say its your policy. It's not! I did a valid report with ALL REQUIRED AND RELATED INFORMATION.


    This is ridiculous, you guys ignoring facts. How much worth your community, your work at the community? - Nothing!

    So dear TF2 community, take care with SteamREP. They will not deal with scammers they probably have a friendship with. I see no other reason why Pretender behave like this.

    First off, a thread like this belongs in General Discussion, certainly not the 'Report a Scam' section. Secondly, the report may have taken a month to be investigated because there can be huge backlogs of reports to be checked out, and SteamRep has more moderators now than they did then. Also, as you gave a link to your account on the report, censoring your name was utterly pointless. All it did was make the evidence harder to accept; without your name in the screenshot to prove it was YOUR trade history, how would one know it was yours aside from your word? As for the trade history, not censoring it shows that no other trades occurred with the alleged scammer and that you are telling the whole story. If you really wanted to keep it private, you could have sent the uncensored version to Pretender in a message; as they are a verified middleman and an admin for two separate communities, I doubt Pretender was involved with the scammer.

    1. Pretendeer is not friends with that person you accused nor even knows him.
    2. If anyone is by chance friends with a scammer, that person MUST recuse themselves and CANNOT do the report. This prevents any potential conflict of interest.
    3. I was the one who told all of the moderators we needed uncensored inventory history. Why? Because people fake their inventory histories. Because people will conveniently block out trades in order to try to get someone they don't like marked as a scammer. I cannot accept reports where the evidence has been doctored. It is a standard procedure and it is to protect everyone. Blocking out your Steam account name is totally fine- I can completely understand that. Blocking out the rest of the trades for that day is not as you could have had a trade with that user that you conveniently blocked out in order to get that person tagged. I am not saying that it happened in this situation, but that is why we need to see the other trades for that day.

    We must go by evidence. We must maintain the highest standards of fairness and integrity by thoroughly investigating every report and getting the required evidence to ensure that the tag is not erroneous. Unfortunately, people do make false reports and we must take this into consideration as well. This is why we require this evidence.

    I volunteer full-time for SteamRep. I have tagged well over 4,000 scammers and hopefully prevented many scams. It is 11:14pm my time and I am still doing scam reports, and have been since 8 am this morning. I am terribly sorry that you do not see my work as valuable but I dedicate more time to this site than people do at jobs they get paid to do. For several months, I was the only admin doing scam reports and we had only one active moderator. I apologize for not getting to your report sooner.

    I can understand your frustration with the time it takes to action reports and appeals, but SR in under staffed and even so they must ensure all reports are fully and properly taken care of: that means big delays.

    You cant imagine how many reports they have to work on..I bet you can't, you are blind by your ego. And I dont speak about the people who report with incorrect form, and a lack of informations.
    Whining about how many time a report takes is really a mark of respect for sure, for all admins/mods working on this site trying to help to community as good as they can.

    this is a reason I can life with. Although you can fake steam chats a way easier and you have probably done other chats with the 'scammer' earlier/later, but that's another story then.
    Also you wrote Pretendeer, is that the same Pretendeer from TF2Outpost? In such case no wonder we have trouble. He is one of the ignorant, incapable and power hungry guys I know, but that's again another story :D

    It's not! On my profile page you will just see my costume url ID/name I've choosen. The account name is something different and part of the steam login. Do not public ANY login data nor your e-mail address you are using for steam. That's the major reason why accounts get hacked successfully.

    Ofcourse it takes time to deal with all new (there are plenty of them daily) and old reports. You can imagine it easily. Just take a look at the boards. Not that hard, isn't?

    I'm being so rude, because I asked Pretendeer why he needs uncensored screenshots and I just got answered: It's part of the policy do you have to hide something? That sounds like I did something fraudulent and it was a false charge. Also it is not part of the policy and he couldn't explain in any way why uncensored screenshots are required.

    She acts like a queen, her post was good for the community.
    You act like a boor (probably like me ... yeah, but it's YOUR and not mine community), your post is just poor for your community.

    Pretendeer has a reputation for taking no prisoners and apparently has an itchy trigger finger. Every Admin is different and each has a unique personality :)

    I must take you to task on "ignorant, incapable", I can assure you this is patently ridiculous and in an altogether throw-away remark from someone who is obviously speaking from a position of ignorance. Pretendeer has contributed a great deal to the community, much of it "behind the scenes", I can assure is most certainly capable, and ignores little.

    Just as an aside, for reasons I am not at liberty to disclose, I can promise you he is not "power hungry", so that is MY story, and I speak from direct experience.

    Back on topic, I am in favor of SR requiring all the info they deem pertinent t make sound decisions, in fact I would be worried if they asked less of us :)

    You just contradicted yourself in your previous statement
    You admit to being rude, another way to help usher in change.

    Uncensored screenshots are NEVER used for anything public. The way I see it, Pretender was asking that you provide the screenshots as is to prove the trade history wasn't tampered with.

    I never insult someone, that's my experience with Pretendeer. That's my mind about this guy, no more. If you don't like it - fine. As I said that's my point of view and you have maybe another one.

    Also I never said you must deal with reports within a hour. The thing is that reports will be viewed randomly. A suggestion would be to deal with older reports first so the delay is almost same. Sometimes it takes just 1 day and a report is accepted but sometimes it takes 1 month or longer for a single official reply.

    No, you have never insulted someone. Aside from saying Canadian was acting like a boor, and that Pretender is ignorant and incapable and colludes with scammers, and that the staff team in general ignores facts and are putting in pointless work. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, you haven't insulted anyone thus far.

    I compared the quality of Canadians and of Helens posts. Both are admins here and both should act like Helen did. I can almost act like I want. So if I act like a boor then its just me and its not linked to the community ;) I think CanadianInvasion understand it in a way it was intended.

    Also I think its much better if not involved people are not responding here. I'm not saying someone is boot licking but some of the users who replies here doing it everywhere ;) (No that's not an insult, it's also just my opinion. If you feel offended, why do you feel so, if its not true? Probably you recognized that english is not my native language, so think about it first. Sometimes there is just a language barrier :p And now I would appreciate that not involved people are silent.
